Mort on the Portis trade rumorsgibbsisgod 01-16-2007, 06:14 PM Gibbs said "NO! We are not trading Portis" and I believe him. gibbsisgod 01-16-2007, 06:22 PM I don't understand how anybody can think Portis is expendable now that Betts had 1 good year. Every good team that Gibbs has ever had, he used 2 backs. I don't remember The early days with Riggins, but in 87 it was Bryant, Rogers, and Smith. In 91 it was Byner and Ervins. Why does everybody think that Portis and Betts Cant coexist. This is a strength on our team. But it would become a weakness (depth) if we let one of them get away. budw38 01-16-2007, 06:52 PM Coles for Moss? Coles for Moss because Coles forced a trade . We sent the Jets a 1st and 3rd rd pick for Coles , I think the Jets got the better of that deal . . Should have drafted Moss , not Gardner to begin with . Of course our 2nd rd pick this year is , the Jets < again > , our third and 4th rd picks ,,, Denver and SF . We keep pissing away draft picks , we will be the AZ cardinals in three years . Longtimefan 01-16-2007, 07:32 PM I'm still trying to figure out how/where the trade Portis rumor got started. I haven't heard anyone in the Redskins organization mention anything about trading him. They may try to intice him to rework his contract for cap reasons, but trading him is unlikely. They're going to need his effort, because gone are the days when teams can rely soley on one back to carry the load through a sixteen game season. CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 01-16-2007, 08:48 PM Shoot trade everyone that we can, were not winning with any of these overpaid bums. I would rather lose with young inexpensive talent than over priced over the hill bums. Always being over the cap and having our butts kicked year and year out. We have stunk for the 12 of the last 14 yrs im sick of it. SmootSmack 01-16-2007, 08:53 PM Shoot trade everyone that we can, were not winning with any of these overpaid bums. Not because I have anything against him but because it would be very savvy. Think about it: - They showcased him and he thrived. - They resigned him to backup money. - His value would probably never be higher than it is right now. And because of all of these good reasons....there is no chance in hell that they would do it. E James L Tomlinson L Johnson F Gore W Parker These guys all carried the load and I probably forgot a couple. It doesn't happen as much but it can be done. I know that Portis has plenty left in the tank. The ridiculous rumors were started by people who can't see the big picture. The same people that annoited the Giants then Cowboys then Chargers and now the Patriots. The same type that says Taylor is the greatest player to ever suit up after the Carolina game and then say that he is "mediocre" because he had to pick up the slack for an injured defense that lacked talent on every level. |
