Joe Gibbs back in the day was a mastermind! This game was prime example of that! If we had beaten the Raiders in Super Bowl 18, the Redskins probably would've been considered a dynasty over San Francisco.
Did anybody notice how Jay Schroeder looked like a girl with his long blonde frizzy hair? lol
He's still a mastermind, just has a few more miles on him now is all. Hopefully he can channel his past greatness again next season and turn this ship back around again.

Yeah, its funny how you tend to see these things when you watch the game on a replay. I never noticed him on the sidelines back years ago when I watched the game live. Of course, that was a long time ago, so I guess I wouldn't remember things like that.
The cheerleaders just didn't do it for me though. I definitely like our present day cheerleaders alot better!:-)
Seeing that reminded me of all sorts of players I used to love to watch...
Barry Wilburn man could he play...too bad his head just was never quite right.
Neal Olkewicz, Monte Coleman, and Mel Kaufman - talk about a group of workhorses and of course those two unstoppable Defensive Ends with Butz and Grant stuffing the middle....ahhh memories...
of course to paraphrase Rick Pitino..."those guys are not going to walk into Redskins Park next season."

I just miss linebackers who could cover passes downfield. I guess they were free too back then, since we had a great pass rush with Mann and Manley.

There is a lot of plays like the reverse and the counter gap that is still widely successful in today's NFL. Which is why it still puzzles me that people would say things like "the game has passed Joe Gibbs by" or "his type of offense is dead and buried...outdated." Neither have turned out to be true in my opinion. In fact, they talk about the speed of the game being so much faster today...but honestly, the only thing I can tell that would make today's game faster is less time on the play clock, rather than players evolving.

I was finally able to sit and watch the game on Tivo. Seeing Alvin Walton's ridiculus neckbrace that's obviously not preventing any neck injury, and remembering that a member of the Warpath uses Alvin Walton's Neckbrace as his screen name actually made me laugh out loud.
I also saw Dave Butz with the flesh colored forearm pads. I can remember using them back in the day. What ever happened to those? Does the forearm shiver no longer exist?

Just finished watching. It makes me kind of sad to see how we have fallen. The whole time I'm watching I'm thinking how bad we need a GM. Bethered sure messed up on some 1st and 2nd rounders but boy did he get some great players in the late rounds.
You mean there are good players in the later rounds and whad'ya mean he messed up on 1st and 2nd rounders, give him a break, he rarely used them.

I have always wondered what kind of a game Art Monk would have had if he had not been injured.

I remember watching the game and the 2nd quarter but I forgot how bad the game started off. I bet there where alot of people righting us off and thinking that it was time that El and the Broncos win the SB. Then bam its the 2nd quarter and come half time the game was all but over. You start to see signs late in the first quarter that the Skins were getting the game under control but it just went crazy from there. Question, I did not realise that they reviewed plays back then. Did they stop at some point reviewing plays then started it back at another time?
I remember Dan Dierdorff writing us off, doing his lameass coverage and I threw a couch pillow at the TV. Right after the pillow throw, things changed. I tried the pillow throw again from time to time when things got rough, but it never worked like it did that game :laughing-
