Thank the Heavens Marty Lasted One Year

I think Sean Payton has done an outstanding job in NO. Nothing to do with the whole Katrina thing, I just mean he's a fantastic, gutsy football coach. The guy has balls and makes some tough, risky calls that work out pretty well.

Forgot about Payton. Yep, he's right up there...shit, he's coach of the year!

VERY VERY stupid thread. Anyone who knows football knows that Marty is a very solid NFL coach. Alot of the stuff that went on yesterday is out of the coaches control. Dropped passes, personel fouls and fumbles on INT's are not the coaches fault.

On this occasion, you're right! This thread is totally absurd! Marty is a fine coach who just seems to be cursed come playoff time. His guys just lost there minds a few times Sunday, and the Patriots got an unbelievably lucky break on the Mcree interception then fumble right back to the Pats. I still wish Marty could've stayed with the Skins longer, instead of Snyder going after that dunce the OBC. Of course that's ancient history now with Gibbs back in the saddle, but still.

at least he gets his team into the playoffs. I dont see the skins getting into the playoffs as often as he has lately. I rather lose some playoffs games instead of making it two times in the last 14 yrs.

@redsk1: i'm not so sure you should call Philip Rivers a pro bowl qb. True, he did get voted there, but he really sucked towards the end of the year, and Tomlinson carried that team.

As for Marty, he should stay. It's not his fault they lost that game. If they fire him they are basically putting themselves back at square one. If they keep him all they need is a little more playoff experience with that young team and they will be a contender for years to come.

Rivers is a quality young QB who has won at every level. He will be an AFC Pro Bowler for years to come. Now, when you say Tony Romo is a Pro Bowl QB, then I can understand some doubt being raised about whether he belongs, talk about sucking towards the end of the year! He went from next Staubach to next Drew Henson just like that!

i agree totally. at least the chargers had a chance to win it all. we were out by week 6 or 7

Bottom line, Marty is now a pathetic 5-13 in the post-season having lost his last 6. He will go down as one of the worst big game coaches in NFL history, and probably would have broken our hearts had he been given the chance to stay. We also would be in the playoffs every year , not 5-11 . Marty finished 8 - 3 , with a cast of , T. Banks , R. Gardner and not much else ,,, we have C. Portis , Moss , Loyd, R El , Cooley , and Betts off the bench and we can't win freakin 6 games ?? No , Marty would not be in my top 5 choices for our coach , but he had our salary cap in better shape and won with a hell of alot less talent than we have now ?
