I really missed something... what did Portis say?? 12thMan 01-12-2007, 02:03 PM I really missed something... what did Portis say?? That interview over a week ago on 980 where Portis says a little of this and that. Nothing really new or that hasn't been said or written before. It was just comimg from Portis, and now folks have their panties in bunch over it. hesscl34 01-12-2007, 02:04 PM That interview over a week ago on 980 where Portis says a little of this and that. Did he say "I want out of DC"??? redsk1 01-12-2007, 02:07 PM I really didn't think too much of the Portis interview. When you are losing players are upset. I commend CP for coming out and saying it. I think he was getting on some players that don't come out and say things to JG's face. Of course, the FO has made some mistakes and he came out and said he disagreed w/ their decisions. That's not the first time a player has done that. He's not leaving. Bill B 01-12-2007, 02:11 PM I disagree with Tony on Monk, though. King and probably Dr. Z are both caving this year. They've been two of the staunch opposers. Without their voices in the room saying nay, a few other votes may swing Monk's way. And he didn't need too many to make it happen. I think he's in like Flynn. Schneed - I hope you are right on Monk. One thing that worries me is that one of Monk's biggest supporters in the HOF voting was Michael Wilbon but he said that he is "retiring" from the voting committee. So even though we have Peter King on board now we lost a big supporter in Michael Wilbon. I hope that King has more sway than Wilbon but we shall see. SmootSmack 01-12-2007, 02:15 PM But WHAT did he say??? Did he say "I want out of DC"??? He never said anything of the sort. If I find a link I'll post it, but you can probably find it in the archives of sportstalk980.com. It was on the John Thompson show if I remember right 12thMan 01-12-2007, 02:18 PM But WHAT did he say??? Did he say "I want out of DC"??? No he didn't say he wanted out, that's why it's crazy that people are saying that. http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/16647-portis-980-a.html MTK 01-12-2007, 03:47 PM Schneed - I hope you are right on Monk. His swing over to Monk's side was very significant. JoeRedskin 01-12-2007, 03:59 PM Schneed - I hope you are right on Monk. So even though we have Peter King on board now we lost a big supporter in Michael Wilbon. I hope that King has more sway than Wilbon but we shall see. Wilbon has been a Monk supporter from Day 1. So, yes, losing him is losing a Monk vote. But he wasn't going to convince anyone who had already made up their mind. King on the other hand has been a consistent Monk naysayer. For him to switch is significant. Especially when the locals ask him why he switched. As I said in a previous thread, PK switched after canvassing coaches and players across the country during his training camp visits - something the locals who would vote against Monk can't do. Sorry, I respectfully disagree with Tony on this - Monk will be going in this year. Shapiro knows this is Monk's best shot and has played on PK's basic desire to be seen as consistent (a desire not mirrored in Dr. Z) and gotten him on board with the H. Carson arguments. If I was a suspicious man, I wouldn't be surprised if Shapiro sat their last year, nodding his head and going "you're so so right about Carson's intangibles Peter - he should get in" only to be turning it around on PK this year. |
