SkinEmAll 02-02-2007, 10:46 AM wow,the memories! It is so funny and cool to look back at some of the news and discussions way back when. Wurffel having a good day against the Rams, Justin Skaggs hoping to get a break, I always liked that guy,and SPURRIERS defense ranked #10 going into the thanksgiving day game against the cowgirls in 02'!!!! That just makes me more sick to my stomach thinking of this past years Defense. I found the site not long after you moved from yahoo, and have been coming ever since. Great job to Matty and everyone else involved along the way. :thumb:

Not that I long for the Spurrier days, but it's pretty incredible that he went 7-9 with the offense we fielded.

Let's call it what it was... Marvin Lewis's defense.

You are so right about that. Its just funny when you look back at anything spurrier, and you just gotta chuckle, sadly. Just think if Lewis was hired to replace spurrier, our team would be full of all those "High":Smoker::pimp: :party-smi :argue: character guys. And then we also would be able to appease the native indians and change the name to the Washington Bullets, which would be more fitting to the players that mr.lewis would have brought in. Actually with snyders wallet. we might have twice as many....

LOL
Bringing Spurrier in was probably the dumbest thing EVER on Danny Boys part. Maybe almost as bad as him bringing in Deion S. I love Dan Snyder for his deep pockets but, GOD, I HATE him for the same reason: Deep Pockets. Rich Bastard.....
mike340 02-03-2007, 05:47 AM That's because he canned the talent that we had before because the players "didn't fit his system." I remember thinking during the preseason that he was kicking all the best players off the team. (I don't remember who they were too clearly now, although I do remember one was Larry Centers who provided a tremendous option coming out of the backfield). For a while it looked like he was trying to get rid of #28 as well. A good coach (especially one who is new to a team) should be able to adjust to utilize the strengths of his players, and not ditch good players because they don't fit in his scheme.
I have a lot of respect for Marty. I still can't believe he went 8-8 in his first season and got fired, especially when you consider the talent he was working with.

Actually, he HAD to boot players off of the team to get under the cap. The Redskins were something like $30M over the cap when he took over, so it was a cap purge and not some purge about "who fits the system." As for #28, he simply said that he would have to compete for a starting job. I find nothing wrong with that, let the best man win.
