So much for my theory that NFL teams would be less likely to hire a college coach based on the Saban saga.

Clearly this had been in the works for some time.
These guys never learn from history. For every Jimmy Johnson, you've got truckloads of Spurriers, Holtzes and Sabans.

It's true JJ won two Super Bowls with the Cowboys and I'm not knocking he's a great coach but his first two years as a Cowboys coach got him a 8-24 record. By todays standards he would have been canned and labeled a bust.

I actually think Saban would've been mildly successful in the NFL.
