14th seems a little low for a team that basically blew through the field on their way to a 17-2 finish. I'll wait to see the entire list before I ultimately judge whether the '91 team got screwed.

But I agree the 1991 team was amazing. I gotta say though in a way I'm glad we went 14-2 (not that I was happy to lose to the Eagles) instead of 15-1. Because I would hate to think that the one loss we'd have looking back on that year would have been to the Cowboys. Game film for this current team should be highlights of that season every week. The 1983 team was awesome. I have a magazine article from right before the Super Bowl comparing them to the 70's Steelers. That would be looked on as one of the greatest teams ever if they had won that game...and Joe Theismann would be in the Hall of Fame. gibbsisgod 01-11-2007, 10:02 PM Did anyone see the show where the told about how they came up with the idea for "America's Game"? I was quite pissed off when they suggested that Washington got lucky in '82 and '87 because they were strike years. I believe they used the term "stole suberbowls". I almost turned the channel thinking that once again, Washington got screwed out of any kind of recognition of thier accomplishments. I am just happy they picked one of our teams as one of the greatest ever. ncskinsfanec 01-11-2007, 10:38 PM Did anyone see the show where the told about how they came up with the idea for "America's Game"? I am just happy they picked one of our teams as one of the greatest ever. They didn't steal anything, they earned it just like all the other super bowl winners. Whose to say they wouldn't have been just as successful without the strikes. Whoever said that is a complete moron who doesn't deserve to be a talking head on t.v., of course half those people on t.v. are complete bafoons who couldn't cut it in any other endeavor in life. For a prime example of this just watch "Around the Horn" on ESPN, they had to pick those guys off the street or something, they are just awful, I mean awful, what a bunch of idiots. gibbsisgod 01-11-2007, 10:43 PM I just wonder if any other team had won it all during one of those strike seasons would they still have considered it a "stolen Superbowl"? I'll bet not! squrrelco3 01-13-2007, 10:06 PM Finally watched it tonight (had it TIVO'd) man talk about memories. Art Monk and "the Posse", Wilbur Marshall, Charles Mann and the "National Defense". That was fun to watch. celts32 01-14-2007, 12:11 AM That was a great show...I love how they began it from the body bag game the year before. Redskinhog1963 01-14-2007, 04:03 AM did'nt mark mosely win the league mvp during the 1982 redskins super bowl championship team?in my opinion gibb's greatest win as the skins coach 1st time around, was when he took the 87 skins strike team to dallas, and beat the cowboys strike team that randy white, danny white, tony dorsett, and a few other regulars that crossed the strike lines to play.that was the last game me and my daddy saw together before he went to that giant redskins stadium in the sky! htownskinfan 01-14-2007, 10:17 AM did'nt mark mosely win the league mvp during the 1982 redskins super bowl championship team?in my opinion gibb's greatest win as the skins coach 1st time around, was when he took the 87 skins strike team to dallas, and beat the cowboys strike team that randy white, danny white, tony dorsett, and a few other regulars that crossed the strike lines to play.that was the last game me and my daddy saw together before he went to that giant redskins stadium in the sky! yes,Mosely did win mvp, only kicker to ever do it,does he belong in the hall? yes, that dallas strike game was great,Dierdorf says at the start of game how nobody is giving these skins a chance, but anbody who underestimates a joe gibbs coached team is sadly mistaken, how true those words turned out to be!{wish it was true now!} I have that game on dvd, watched it not that long ago,one of our strike players still holds the redskin single game recieving record,Anthony Allen,I have that game too skinsfan69 01-14-2007, 03:06 PM That was a great show...I love how they began it from the body bag game the year before. That was great stuff. One thing that I noticed was all the deep passing we use to do. Power running game, deep passing and roll outs. |
