While I was watching the replay of the Skins Broncos SB tonight I found it interesting that in the second half when the game was over the commentators were giving so many accalades to Bobby Beathard and making him the chief reason behind the succees we had had up until that point, I guess Gibbs thought it was his coaching that made those players, while it becomes more and more evident that it was BB's ability to continualy stock pile talent that made Gibbs.

Let's not be so quick to dismiss Gibbs' impact on that team. For starters, he's the one who lured Doug Williams to the Redskins. But more importantly, it was Joe Gibbs that coached a bunch of no-name guys like QB Ed Rubbert, RB Lionel Vital, and DE Steve Martin (not that one) to a 3-0 record during the "replacement weeks" of that season. While other teams had inner turmoil with players crossing the picket line, Gibbs kept that unit of "scab" players together for three pivotal weeks.

Well - looks like the Giants got a Reese - although this is not Floyd....

washingtonpost.com - nation, world, technology and Washington area news and headlines (http://washingtonpost.com)

Also Jason La Confora gave a report at Redskin Park and said the Skins will not bring a GM and the issue is dead - we are stuck with Vinny Cerrato and the current FO whether we like it or not....

here is a qoute and link to JLC commentary....

"I'll keep you guys posted if anything happens in Ashburn this week. Coaches will likely break for a few weeks of vacation at the end of the week. From everything I have heard, the GM thing is a dead issue and all of the coaches will be back intact"

That's disconcerting!

Don't forget it was also Gibbs who personally convinced John Riggins to come out of retirement and come back to the Redskins.

If you makes sense then it will never happen. The skins arent run like winning teams. We just sign Fa and trade away our draft picks.
