I hope Springs re-works his deal - there was an article a few weeks ago stating how they would like to work in Springs at safety in certain defensive packages next year, which makes me think he will be back. If he doesn't agree to restructure, Springs is certainly gone. I would hope Griffin would be back as well. There is no way they let M. Washington go. TheMalcolmConnection 01-04-2007, 05:12 PM Yeah, I'm leaning towards Springs leaving myself. jbcjr14 01-04-2007, 05:19 PM Of that group I would say Springs. But I don't think he leaves unless he is unwilling to restructure his deal. You have to keep the heart of your defense (Griff and Washington). It's the Redskins FO, who the hell really knows what they are thinking! MTK 01-04-2007, 05:20 PM Wynn and Daniels both have to be on the hotseat due to their age and contracts. I think Springs will be back with a restructured deal. Schneed10 01-04-2007, 05:22 PM I hope Springs re-works his deal - there was an article a few weeks ago stating how they would like to work in Springs at safety in certain defensive packages next year, which makes me think he will be back. No, if Springs does not restructure, the Redskins' incentive would be to keep him. If he doesn't restructure, he'll count $7.3 million against the cap. If they cut him, he'll count $7.4 million against it. There's no savings for cutting him. But there's no reason he wouldn't restructure. He's not going to care how he gets his money, as long as he gets it. Schneed10 01-04-2007, 05:23 PM The only way Springs leaves is if he's the deepthroat and GW finds out. Schneed10 01-04-2007, 05:26 PM Wynn would represent a savings of $2.5 million if we cut him. They will certainly try to force him to accept a paycut, and they'll have leverage because he's not worth what his current contract says he is. If he doesn't accept the paycut, they'll axe him. On Daniels, he would represent a $1.9 million savings if we cut him. But I can't see them cutting both Daniels and Wynn. That would leave us really thin at DE. I can only see one or the other being gone at most, and quite honestly I think both will be back. Schneed10 01-04-2007, 05:27 PM Washington and Griffin are like Springs, cutting them would not represent any cap savings. They'll restructure them both. Guess it all depends on what happens in free agency/draft. I doubt they'll cut both of them but I think it's a strong possibility at least one of them will get the axe. |
