Most likely to be back with the team next year?

So why didn't they try that this year? People keep saying that Rocky didn't play much because Williams really puts the rookies in very sparingly -- but he didn't do that with Golston.

I have a hard time believing that Lemar Marshall is anything more than a flash in the pan. He, like so many of the '05 team over-achieved, and I'd have some serious reservations about depending on him in '07.

But he played Golston out of necessity with Griff and the Samoan injured didn't he?

I suppose that was part of it. The other guys are Ryan Boschetti and Anthony Montgomery (who also had some playing time). So yes, pretty slim pickens' with backups on the D-line.

It just seemed that he was way more comfortable throwing Golston the mix, but not Rocky. And apparently Marshall was banged up all year. How he didn't unseat Holdman we'll never know.

I think they'll both be back.

Welcome!

Thanks, I usually post on the WP forum but the trying times we're in called for a break.

I believe both players will be back if for no other reason than the continuity that coach preaches. Maybe one of the offensive players needs to sit Lloyd down or take him out to the parking lot for an intervention. He should be much happier with a new and improved JC feeding him more often than MB ever could. GW needs to find Arch some kind of tweener lb role, imo.

The Redskins have really screwed themselves with free agent acquisitions and trading away draft picks. There is no quick fix. That's why they are in the position they are in, every year they attempt a quick fix by buying free agents. The problem won't cease until they change their philosophy and retain draft picks and stop signing high profile free agents.

I think Portis is going to be a problem in the days to come......he could be traded. Who cares about Archie and Lloyd??

Sometimes it's hard to believe that Lloyd is the same guy who was writing those cool blogs for redskins.com in the summertime...I think canthetuna was ghost writing for him

Archuleta is virtually the same weight as Lemar Marshall, though two inches shorter. I would experiment with Archuleta as a pass rushing specialist linebacker, and decommission him as a safety.

I wonder if we can get Ryan Clark back, as someone mentioned on another thread. He apparently has lost his starting job in Pittsburgh. It would be a brilliant move because it would help our defense fill an area of need, improve the play and frame of mind of Sean Taylor, and show that we can correct mistakes we have made in personnel.

As for Brandon Lloyd, it's tough to say because I don't trust gossip about him, but I would find the kind of plays that he feels most energized about running, and use him as a third receiver. I would try to make things work with him in a more limited role than starting 2nd receiver.
