On the John Thompson show the other day Clinton Portis said that Taylor may be missing tackles, but it's because he has to run all the way across the field to try to make a play because the other members of the defense aren't doing it. In other words, Taylor is putting himself in position to make plays that aren't even his responsibilty. So, atleast he's getting his nose in their, we can't blame him in my opinion.

I saw that, too, with ST shaking hands with the NFLN guys. It was odd to see Sean Taylor actually make contact with someone.

...without that person dying instantly.
Sorry - I thought this was the Chuck Norris thread.

Yeah, that's what made me start this thread. I thought it was odd and sort of refreshing just to see him mingle a little.

Agree--Taylor is not the problem. Granted he has had a tough year but he is playing on his heels because of the deficiencies in front of him. Better D line and LB play will bring out the Taylor of old.
the entire defensive unit has looked bad all season, taylor included.

Why does Sean Taylor get blamed when the defensive line and linebackers have been shredded by runningbacks all year long? Quarterbacks have all day to pass the ball, the LB's outside of M. Washington (who was hurt) have been pathetic, and the secondary has been awful but this is the free safety's fault?
I guess that people don't understand what a safety should be doing on a decent defense.
Why is Taylor chasing down runningbacks? Because the RB is getting into the secondary without being touched. Watch how often that happens against the Ravens.
Why is Taylor getting burned on passes? Because there is no pressure on the QB and they pick the DB's apart.
The defense is in shambles but the last thing they have to worry about is Taylor.
Basically thats what I was trying to say. The defense lacks playmakers around Taylor so he tries to make all the plays himself becuase he thinks he can. And often he can't keep up because he is trying to do to much. With a solid linebacking corps he would be back to his kickass self.

I doubt if it's anything that was caught on video.
He was just casually throwing the ball around like an hour before the game. The NFL Network guys were doing the show live very close to where he was on the field and basically just walked right up and starting talking to them.

personally for the whole season i thought that ST was the only guy you could count on to play every week.you know that defense sucks when the safeties and cbs make more tackles than the DL does.
