Bill B 12-29-2006, 01:58 PM On Comcast after that game, Sellers took responsibility for that play. Who was realy at fault? I dont like to go back and watch those types of plays over again, they were hard enough to watch when they happen.
I thought Archie was but not worth going into - Archie will be gone after this season IMO - what sucks is once we cut him the 08 dead cap is going to have $7 million just because of him - I guess there will be more contract restructuring in 08 to deal with the cap.
#56fanatic 12-29-2006, 02:00 PM Why does it seem like he makes it a point to send a message to the stars though? That's just the feeling I get. It's almost like he want's everyone to know who's in charge.
These guys just want to play football.
DING DING DING!!! WE HAVE A WINNER FOLKS!!!
SmootSmack 12-29-2006, 02:05 PM AA proved his worth early on: pretty useless. I have no question he doesn't belong on this team, but once again we have a disgruntled player leaving the organization pissed off.
What the hell is with the management of this team that we seem to have more pissed players up and leave or get fired than any other team I'm aware of? Is it just because I follow the Redskins a lot closer than other teams, or does this team genuinely screw people over season after season?
I'm not arguing that AA should play or that he's good, I'm just wondering in general why these situations happen so freakin' often to this team.
It happens all around the NFL. You just notice it more because you pay closer attention to the Redskins

How many touchdowns does Brandon Llyod have along with spectacular catches that made Washington sign him?

Blue Star are you sure that you are not a closet 'Skins fan. I have been reading your post and you have better knowledge of the Redskins than you do the Cowboys. If you stay on here a wee bit longer I think that we can get you converted

But a lot of coaches do that. Parcells used to do it to Simms (from what I recall). If Williams starts chewing out Anthony Montgomery then the general feeling is "ok, whatever. He's just chewing out the rookie" But if he starts laying into someone the caliber of Griff, suddenly others would (should) stand up and take notice.

Naw, I'm not talking about chewing someone out, pe se. That's cool, and maybe they need more of that Redskins Park. In fact, if they were even chewing AA out maybe he would at least know where he stood with all of this.
wolfeskins 12-29-2006, 02:49 PM He's right in a way...if the coaching staff has really been ignoring him like he says then that's pretty childish. Just look him in the eye like a man and tell him why he is not playing. I mean they have half a season of documented proof why he was benched. There was just no need for the childish were not talking to you attitude. Either way he's gone...it's just a matter of how they do it and how big the cap hit is.
what in the world are you talking about? childish? come on you can't be serious! do want GW to sit AA down, give him some milk and cookies and then explain to him why it is he's not playing?
if your told over and over and over and over how to play your assignment but you continually screw your assignment up, then your going to be benched. there is no reason for an explanation. the proof is in the pudding.
dgack 12-29-2006, 02:52 PM No way, what happened was he slept with Greg Williams' wife. That's why he was benched. I don't have any evidence or anything, but it sure would explain a lot.
Best theory I've seen offered yet.
JLC's interview/story today on WashPost offers more explanation, though I'm sure 90% of the people in this thread are just going to say "happy trails loser!!111" and discount the whole thing.
The bottom line for Arch is, he feels that he has been blackballed here, and that because of it, his career is going to suffer for it. I know most here would probably relish that thought, but I think it sucks, reflects poorly on our organization, and will come back and bite us in the ass (if this kind of karma hasn't already).
The article also adds further validation to my earlier claim that the current players on the team are quite aware of how Arch is getting screwed and aren't really happy with it, either.
This is NOT how you run a class organization.

I don't see any evidence that he was told "over and over and over" anything. But I'm sure AA is just flat out lying, and our esteemed, even-tempered, player's coach GGrilliamss is just taking the high road.
Archuleta said he would prefer that coaches tell him he needed to improve his pass coverage or that his overall play has been poor, rather than be ignored. The coaches pulled him out of the starting lineup during a practice about two months ago, without giving him a reason, according to team sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity regarding Archuleta's status with the franchise.
Archuleta said he has felt like an outcast since. "They haven't said anything to me," Archuleta said of the defensive staff.
Archuleta said he did have a 10-minute meeting with Coach Joe Gibbs around the time of his benching, but he has had no recent conversations with Gregg Williams, assistant head coach-defense.
"I talked to Coach Gibbs briefly, and he told me to keep busting my butt and to fight through it, which is fair," Archuleta said. "He pulled me in to try to boost my confidence earlier in the season, which I appreciated."
