jsarno 12-27-2006, 02:03 PM new york media is talking about charlie weiss, already
Absolutely WON'T happen. Have you seen what Notre Dame threw at him for a contract? Even if they give Charlie the largest coaching contract in history, he's not moving. He believes Notre Dame is the best job in sports, and he has been exaulted as a hero in South Bend.
Why NFL teams think they can lure him back is beyond me.
hesscl34 12-27-2006, 02:30 PM PLEASE kick our a$$ next week. I can't stomach the thought of the Giants having to play an extra game. The league and NFL fans do not deserve such torture. More importantly, Dallas or Philly do not deserve such an easy first round match-up.
I'll trade you Eli for the rights to Jay Shroeder. Any takers? Oh, and take my coaching staff and the 52 players, as well.
YIKES! I'm so glad I don't feel this way about the Skins, even though we are losing this year!!!

He'll be lured away eventually but I don't see it happening this year.
I'd be willing to bet though if he was offered the NY job he would think long and hard about it.
FRPLG 12-27-2006, 03:54 PM The Giants are just going through the motions right now, you can tell they don't even want to be out there anymore.
This is what happens whyen you have a freaking drill sargeant coach. It works for a while when everetone buys in and then they get tired of it and it isn't fun anymore. Now Tiki is retiring and this team is headed in the wrong direction. Coughlin has to go. Or stay for our sakes.
BrudLee 12-27-2006, 04:00 PM I know you're kidding, but it made me wonder how Tiki has done against us historically. Well, here are the stats:
Total games: 17
Average per game: 69.8
Average per carry: 4.5
100+ yard games: 3 (although he's had 2 of those in the last two seasons, including the 206 yarder last year)
I think we can take him down.
Tiki was a 3rd down back for the first half of his career, so that game average is a little misleading.

Even if you take out his first few seasons, it's still not dominating. He rang us up for 200+ last year, and that's definitely hard to forget. He's done decently against us, especially with how good our D used to be, but that one game skews his numbers a lot.

I'm sure eventually he will be too, but it will be a minimum of 5 years from now.
I'd be willing to bet though if he was offered the NY job he would think long and hard about it.
Just out of curiousity, why do you think so?

NY is about as high profile as you can get.
Biggest market in all of sports, a team with a rich history, he would be absolutely crazy to turn them down without giving it thought.

I try to put myself in the perspective person's shoes, and if were him, there would be nothing to pull me away from a job I love.
Who knows, maybe you're right...it wouldn't be the first time someone shocked us with a decision.
NY would be too stressful...the odds of you being hated is waaaay too big, the odds of you being successful is waaay too small. Not a good scenario.

Why NFL teams think they can lure him back is beyond me.He WANTED the Giants job when they hired Coughlin. He is from Northern New Jersey. I do not think he will leave ND for this mess, but you never know.
