Is it possible to use a custom avatar on this site. I a member of another site that uses the same forum software (clubstogie.com) and they allow customized avatars. They also have a lot of other extra stuff that the software allows.

It is technically possible but board rules prohibit it. I think the general concensus among the board members is that those kinds of things(custom avatars, crazy sigs, etc...) dirty up the board. I know I like the clean and organized look TWP has.

Gotcha, I understand. I mostly curious because the other board I am on using the same software has so many other bells and whistles. Some of them actually cause issues on the board. For example, they allow you to change other peoples titles if you have enough virtual money (they call it CS Bux). That seems to just piss ppl off.
I agree this board is much cleaner.

The one thing I wouldn't mind seeing is a "karma" system. That's where you can basically give people props or call them out, and it works like a plus/minus system. It might help separate the wheat from the chafe, although I'm not sure where I would fall.

They do that at clubstogie.com it only causes issues. The people who have been there the longest end up abusing it because they have so many points they can deduct points without worrying about their points being deducted.

That's a good point. I've never used a board that has that system, so I have no practical experience with it. I see how it could devolve into a meaningless system.
Maybe the best idea is to just let me ding people as I see fit. Yeah, that sounds good.

yeah the points thing never ends well. and it always ends. i have never been on a board where it became permanent.
