Listening to the John Riggins show on the way home from work and they had a beat writer from the St. Louis newspaper (who also happend to be a Redskin fan). He said everyone in St. Louis could not believe the contract Adam weas given because people knew he had a bad back and this limited his run stuffing ability and since the injury he has never been the same. He went on to say that this decision by the Redskins was made because of 1 of 2 things: 1.) One of the coaches wanted him really bad or 2.) Someone who does not have football decision making ability/knowledge got involved in getting him here. I don't want this to turn into a GM question thread - just passing along the qoute from the guy. djnemo65 12-23-2006, 03:31 AM Listening to the John Riggins show on the way home from work and they had a beat writer from the St. Louis newspaper (who also happend to be a Redskin fan). Fair enough, but we have discussed this a lot and I think we mostly agree that Williams was the driving force behind the acquisition. I can assure you it wasn't Snyder. If one wants to suggest that this points to larger problems in our player acquisition model I would agree, but I really don't think this was a Jeff George situation. #56fanatic 12-23-2006, 09:28 AM AA is going through the same thing that LaVar went through when he was here. Bash me all you want, but Williams promised a certain playing style to him and his agent and he had him doing something totally different. I think given an offseason and OTA's, training camp AA may turn out to be a good player for us. the guy is a player, fast, strong, great work ethic. GIve him a year to learn. Hopefully he isn't so far in GW doghouse (for what ever reason) that they completely forget about him. GW has some issues. he is a little arogant and once he starts disliking you, you are done! dmek25 12-23-2006, 09:09 PM someone saw something in A.A. give him at least one more season . i would think Greg Williams defense would be one of the harder defenses in the league to learn djnemo65 12-23-2006, 09:11 PM someone saw something in A.A. give him at least one more season . i would think Greg Williams defense would be one of the harder defenses in the league to learn One more season? He's like third on the depth chart! I don't think this is a question of learning. He's been on this team a lot longer than Vernon Fox. 56FAN 12-24-2006, 11:08 PM the signing bonus was 2 teired. 5 mil last year and 5 more in march. he will be gone by march.but then again i'm not a coach. 12thMan 12-24-2006, 11:14 PM the signing bonus was 2 teired. 5 mil last year and 5 more in march. he will be gone by march.but then again i'm not a coach. If that's the case, no way this guys sticks around past March. onlydarksets 12-25-2006, 05:53 AM They'll cut him July 1, otherwise the cap hit goes up by a million dollars. If AA were playing at all on D, then I would agree that another year would be warranted to see if he's going to work out. However, the coaches don't have the confidence to play him even sparingly on D - what would they be waiting to see if they kept him? |
