Very bad move. Cut him and be done with it. He can't cover anything and would be best someplace else.

Absolutely agree.
I think part of the problem is you can't have 2 run stopping safties. One has to dedicate himself to stopping the pass, and Taylor already called run stopping.

I still have no idea why he can't get back on the field and one other thing Vernon Fox is a below average NFL player on his very best day. You all must be joking me if you think he is better than Arch. It's not even close.

I agree to an extent. Talent wise, you're right. But in our system, Fox is better. Fox tries to play the pass even if he sucks too. He just plays a little better.
Archuletta will go to some team that needs a run stopping safty and he will re-emerge.

I just can't wait to hear what he has to say when he leaves and although the coaches won't say much somebody is bound to shed light on this thing. I don't care what many of you think about the guy he is a solid football player who could start for many NFL teams. Talk about a scapegoat. He was just fine in run support and he got exposed in pass protection. Who hasn't on this team this year. Maybe Sean Springs and that's it! He is terrible in our system with our personel. I blame the coaches for this move. Not a good fit with Taylor, who should be in the pro bowl if not for all those bone head penalties........

how much will it cost to ut him

When you net out what it would cost to keep him, it's an extra ~$7 million in release fees.

Our pass rush during the first half of the year was an embarassment, non existent, pitiful and comical. Arch played very bad in pass support, but it's not his strength and he had zero help and maybe even less than zero help from the front four. I think Greg Williams caught him with one of his daughters or something.

I don't know the exact amount but its not that bad. Redskins front office are absolute pros at setting up these "huge" contracts. They actually don't pay out until the back end.......AA aint gettin close to that $$$$$$.

Arch is a bust. The Skins need to cut ties as soon as fiscally possible.

You know he hates it here and can't wait to leave. Again, I don't blame AA, i blame us.

Maybe we can do that Arrington thing again, and he'll pay us to leave?

Nope - after the Arrington Fiasco that NFL implemented a new rule that prohibits players from returning money to circumvent the cap.

I agree he's been bad, but is he any worse than Holdman or Marshall have been? I'm not an AA apologist but the guy was one of the better strong safties in the NFL a couple years ago and has some solid natural ability. He couldn't cover a cake with a bucket of frosting but are there NO defensive sets he won't' be completely exposed in? Let's face it, Vernon Fox hasn't set the world on fire and Vincent hasn't been back out there since he got predictably hurt. Arch may not be the best but is he worse than a journeyman and a guy who was on the couch Oct. 1st?

Yes, he was definitely worse than Holdman or Marshall. Our secondary with him in there was a joke. It's one thing if you're not a great cover guy at LB, it's another thing entirely when you are a safety.
