BeastsoftheNFCeast 12-19-2006, 01:46 PM Whenever anyone mentions our linebacking core for next year, (for the most part) they include McIntosh in the starting rotation. But IMO we have not seen enough of him to assume he'll be starting next year. I do not think that the skins are confident that he'll be ready next year. Do you think we are going to bring in a starting LB next year as insurance? And if we do, do you think it will be a MLB, and we'll move Marshall to OLB. Also, what do you think will happen with Marshall if we brough in a MLB and McIntosh is ready, will he be content as a backup and stay a skin? And Remeber, this is all hypothetical, dont say none of this will ever happen and this thread is stupid.

mheisig 12-19-2006, 02:22 PM Dammit, Ghetto! Beat me to it ;)
Schneed10 12-19-2006, 02:46 PM I know what you're saying though. We keep saying that we might as well play Rocky to see what we have. Well, GW sees what he's got every day in practice. I don't think Rocky is there yet - if he was he'd be playing a more prominent role right now.
Can we go into 2007 planning on starting Rocky or Holdman? I think we have bigger needs than LB, but if we have the cap space once we're done filling holes at SS, CB, and DT, then I think we'd be remissed if we didn't pursue an Adalius Thomas to solidify our LB corps.
Bringing tons of guys in is always dangerous because of the learning curve. Just because we bring in Adalius doesn't mean Rocky couldn't earn a starting job. But by the same token, can we play well enough on D with Warrick Holdman/Rocky McIntosh?
jsarno 12-19-2006, 02:54 PM Obviously he's not ready, and that concerns me.
We NEED better play from our LB's, but let's not count out the offseason. A lot of players will all of a sudden "get it" when they are sitting at home playing Madden and reading the playbook.
However, if he can't be the man, we need someone who will be.
With a salary cap, you can't have proven veterens at every position.
we have to start young players and hope they can play, if they want, we promote their a reserve and give them a chance.
If they are still unsure of McIntosh, they need to spend a 4th or 5th round pick on a linebacker as back up and hopefully he can play.

So Rocky's not ready, neither was McCune (now with Miami).
Pierce, Clark, and LaVar were all expendable. And Archullleta appearantly can't play anymore either.
I hate to keep sounding so negative, I really do. But I'm just not all together sold anymore about what this staff says.
