Hey everybody, I know he's not a 'Skin but I remember wanting us to draft him out of Georgia. The guy was always undersized but had a crazy motor and just played as if each snap was his last. He was definitely one of the few players coming out of college that I wanted to see as a redskin because I knew he wanted it too bad to be a bust. It's a shame but at least he's got his health...

THAT'S the problem with football, NFL is a tough path to follow...I'd stick with baseball or basketball..........where your not worried that any moment your career might end.

Think about the poor bengals. They drafted him and Odell Thurman 1 and 2 and neither ever really played. And they need to stop the run.

I feel so bad for that kid. It's a damn shame that things like this can happen and ruin young men's careers. I feel even worse for him just because he had plenty of good years ahead of him. But it's the right thing to do because there's no way in hell anyone would risk getting paralyzed just to play football.

iT's a shame he and Thurman show a lot of promise last year and looked like they'll have great careers and now one is a dopper and the other ha an awfull injury.

So what happens to a guy like this as far as how the NFL or team pays him. Does he receive a lump sum of money or receive annual payment for life etc...

well after you retire from the NFL they give you retirement checks, i believe it's something like 300k a year, if it's an early retirement due to injury he might get more.

i think you have to be vested to get the retirement. and vesting takes 4 full seasons. he will probably receive an injury settlement from the Bengals
