7 Steps for a good season in 2007:

1. Healthy Portis
2. Healthy Moss
3. Healthy secondary
4. Healthy D-line
5. Healthy O-line
6. Get a kicker
7. Keep Campbell in

I was impressed by Susssss...uh.....our kicker who kicked for us this past weekend. If we can continue to hit field goals from 40+, then I think we will have a kicker, but it will take the rest of the season to evaluate him.

Sushi or whatever-the-hell-his-name-is has looked pretty good so far. His accuracy is good and his kickoff depth is very good.

This is a big one. Not as much for this particular forum, since I think about 90% of Warpath members realize this, but a lot of the general Redskins fanbase(at least the vocal fans that call in to Redskins radio shows) are talking about drafting Quinn because Campbell hasn't shown anything. That kind of thinking is just plain stupid...

You are so right here, and I posted to this effect earlier, but take a look at Peyton Manning's first season:

+----------+--------------------------+----------------+
| WK OPP | CMP ATT PYD TD INT | RSH YD TD |
+----------+--------------------------+----------------+
| 1 mia | 21 37 302 1 3 | 0 0 0 |
| 2 nwe | 21 33 188 1 3 | 0 0 0 |
| 3 nyj | 20 44 193 0 2 | 3 26 0 |
| 4 nor | 19 32 309 1 3 | 1 7 0 |
| 5 sdg | 12 23 137 1 1 | 2 0 0 |
| 6 buf | 20 41 235 2 2 | 0 0 0 |
| 7 sfo | 18 30 231 3 0 | 0 0 0 |
| 9 nwe | 30 52 278 2 2 | 0 0 0 |
| 10 mia | 22 42 140 1 2 | 0 0 0 |
| 11 nyj | 26 44 276 3 2 | 4 21 0 |
| 12 buf | 14 29 164 1 2 | 2 0 0 |
| 13 bal | 27 42 357 3 1 | 1 2 0 |
| 14 atl | 19 27 159 2 2 | 1 7 0 |
| 15 cin | 17 26 210 3 0 | 1 -1 0 |
| 16 sea | 23 39 335 1 1 | 0 0 0 |
| 17 car | 17 34 225 1 2 | 0 0 0 |
+----------+--------------------------+----------------+
| TOTAL | 326 575 3739 26 28 | 15 62 0 |
+----------+--------------------------+----------------+

And he came in as the starter! Look at some of the truly awful games there, and note that the Colts went 3-13 that year.

this all assumes that we change our training camp ways and improve our depth dramatically, or else the injuries could be worse next year.

Note that in Manning's first season he completed only 56% of his passes (Campbell currently completing 52%) and threw more INT's than TD's (Campbell currently 6 TD's / 5 INT's).

Campbell has attempted 122 passes in 4 games, Manning attempted 575 in 17 games. Based on Jason's current rate of atts/cmps/TD's/INT's, if he played a full 17 game season at the current pace, his line would be:

268 comp / 519 att / 3010yd/ 25 TD / 21 INT

Now ask yourself if you could live with those numbers from a first year QB?

Hey, believe it or not, that's the projection based on the way he's played over 4 games. And one would expect him to get better as time goes on, which isn't even accounted for.

Am I saying Campbell is going to be the next Peyton Manning? Uhh, no. (Although I wouldn't mind.) But what I am saying is anyone who is already up in arms that Campbell hasn't made an impact are the ones who are really smoking something.

Very few 1st year QB's ever have that kind of success right away.

I agree that Campbell is going to be good, eventually. Knowing the Skins luck, we'll trade him before that....

I like this one because I think staying healthy is the key. Staying healthy builds a bond between players and helps consistency.
