Betts pulled off 430 yards in 3 games.
Portis has never done that for us, in fact Portis' best 3 game streak this year was 274 yards.
In 05 was 353 yards.
In 04 was 388 yards.

Is Betts a better fit in this offense than Portis is?

Portis best receiving season was 236 yards for us, Betts already passed that with 315 yards right now with 3 games remaining.

(just for the record I do not beleive Betts is better at this point, but these numbers mean a lot.)

Portis was never 100% this year and Betts has had the benefit of the OL playing much better than they did earlier in the year.

Betts is a nice backup to have though that's for sure. He's got a really good shot at cracking 1000 this year.

They are different stle backs and it would not be fair to compare htem but i think Portis is better. Betts probaby should have broken so larger runs then he did today that I will argue Portis ould have made. Betts is still a greta 2nd tho.

This is gonna be a common debate for the rest of the season because of the simple fact that Betts has been producing. Portis seemed unproductive when he played this year but I think the injuries played a big part in his role this season. If you look back to last year, Portis was the backbone of the team when they strung off the 6 wins in a row. I think there is no question that Portis is better than Betts. Betts has been getting some great blocking up front and I think it would be exciting to see Portis back there with those same holes opening up because he is more explosive, quicker and he can fight for the tough yards like Betts. I think putting Betts higher than Portis at this point is unfair to Portis and I think its the wrong move.

Betts is more decisive, and doesn't dilly dally in the backfield like Portis did. The OL has only let up 15 sacks all season, so they played well in the beginning of the season too. Even if you disagree, Portis has NEVER had a 3 game stretch for the Skins like Betts has. This OL is the best we've seen since the Hogs.

you can make numbers look like anything you want them to. has betts ever had a 1500 yard season? i think real fans look at some of betts good runs today and think of how portis would have gained alot more yardage

To some extent I disagree with that. Portis could have easily got stuffed behind or at the line of scrimmage due to his "dancing" nature. Betts just hits 4th gear going through the hole. Which is why I asked if he is a better fit for this offense.
Portis is spectacular, and should always be our guy, but the way Betts is playing is more like what Gibbs wanted out of Portis all along.

I don't care who is better. I am just happy we have them both.

Nope.

Especially when Portis has never done for us what Betts just did.
