So, after six pages, who is the better back, Betts or Portis?

Mike Vick, according to the stats.

That's so ironic, because that's who I thought you were talking about all the time.

We here can talk about anything. See Question 3

I know, that's what I like about this site.

They are different stle backs and it would not be fair to compare htem but i think Portis is better. Betts probaby should have broken so larger runs then he did today that I will argue Portis ould have made. Betts is still a greta 2nd tho. That is assuming that Portis would have hit those same holes as Betts has done. He is really making quick dicisions and hitting the holes very fast.

It's not that tough when the line creates holes you could drive an 18-wheeler through, like they did on Sunday.

Portis:
Year Team G GS Att Yds Avg Lg TD 20+ 1st
2002 Denver Broncos 16 12 273 1508 5.5 59 15 11 79
2003 Denver Broncos 13 13 290 1591 5.5 65 14 13 76
2004 Washington Redskins 15 15 343 1315 3.8 64 5 5 65
2005 Washington Redskins 16 16 352 1516 4.3 47 11 6 74
2006 Washington Redskins 8 7 127 523 4.1 38 7 3 29
TOTAL 68 63 1385 6453 4.7 65 52 38 323

THat makes an AVERAGE of 4.08 yards per carry as a REDSKIN. notice he got 5.5 in denver. not a small point. almost 35% more effective in denver. while he scored 29 TDs in 2 seasons in denver, he's scored 23 in 3 in washington.

I like the stats, but what is your point? I think we all know he has not produced those all-world numbers he produced in Denver. But he's been no slouch.

Yards per carry isn't an isolated stat like 40 times. It depends on so many other factors (blocking, QB, passing game, defense even).

Very true.
