I agree. Isn't it nice to have two competant running backs? A lot of teams wish they had what we have. As a combo tandem, we might just have the best in all of football.

Exactly! Reminds me of Earnest Byner and Ricky Ervins with Riggs coming in on short yardage. Kind of like what we have now.... Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts, and TJ Duckett.

Also, how many tds did he score? None. How many does he have this year? 2. Portis has had way more than that this year. I don't wanna hear about TJ being a goal line back because he wasn't when Clinton was healthy. Clinton was the goal line back.

Very good point. Betts does seem to have an issue finding the endzone.

Do you think we'll resign Duckett for next season? I am already foaming at the mouth at that prospect.

I don't know. I mean, I would feel better about it if we could see him being more successful on short yardage plays. I do think he has alot of potential though. I also want us to keep Rock Cartwright. But, if we have to get rid of one of them, I'd get rid of Duckett.

I think the "either Portis or Betts" view is the wrong one. We keep them both and use them both as equally important. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Portis has big play game changing ability, Betts does not. On the other hand, Betts displays a lot more patience in letting his blockers create holes, leading to more ypc on regular rushing downs, whereas Portis lacks that patience. Then again, Portis is a much better blocker and blitz picker upper than Betts is.

This is a great situation to be in next year, but I would like to see is them splitting the carries, rather than Portis getting the bulk of them. They should both get 16-20 carries per game each, rather than Portis getting 25 and Betts 10. We should view them both as starters.

Portis is also 10 times the blocker Ladell Betts is. Portis tears guys up in the backfield. Betts, a lot of times, makes the wrong read and picks up the wrong man.

I've been pretty impressed w/ the o line the last few weeks. They are really doing a great job of run blocking and Betts is doing a great job hitting the holes. One bright spot on a bad team. It's safe to say we were the more physical team today and our o line took it to them, but we got the L and thats what matters.

betts still cant get in the endzone like portis can, but man its hard to argue against betts right now. it doesnt matter who is better because both are going to get lots of carries next year

How stupid is this thread.

All I know is we have millions upon millions devoted to the one area of the field where we don't need help. Chalk up another one for the front office.

Nope.

Especially when Portis has never done for us what Betts just did.

Yeah its not like Portis had 1500 yds last year and 11 tds.I have said this before and i guess i have to say it again.Look at the carries guys and wake up.Portis never got more than 23 carries in one game this year.He was getting 14 to 17 carries a game.Betts has got 24,28 and now 33.Give Portis that many carries and you will see better numbers.
