BeastsoftheNFCeast 12-10-2006, 06:03 PM I'd say his timetable is by the end of next year. I think we gave Patrick 3 years, Rivers is great after 3, Lil Manning is good after 3, Smith is pretty good after 2, Palmer was great after 3, Rothlessberger was good after 1, Leinart/Young look at least decent after 1, and Cutler looks IMO better than Campbell after 1.
If memory serves Gibbs stated many times "Patrick is our guy" even though he wasnt. I'm not comparing PR to JC I'm just saying you gotta take what Gibbs says with a big grain of salt.
They are completely different situations and circumstances.
Defensewins 12-10-2006, 07:20 PM Based on history if I was JC I'd be worried that Gibbs is endorsing him, just ask Ramsey. As much as I hate to say it, its hard to believe anything Gibbs says anymore.
I dont think JC needs a timetable, he just needs to keep getting better each week and if he does that we will all be very happy.
LOL!
History shows GIbbs came in his first offseason after Spurrier left, watched the tapes of the prior season for player evaluation purposes and the first move he made was get Brunnell. How is that for endorsing Ramsey?
So what message did that sent to Ramsey at that time? 'I do not want Ramsey as my starting QB, he is not ready', which ended up being the correct call. Ramsey is now the third string QB with Jets behind a rookie.
skinsguy 12-10-2006, 07:23 PM How can anybody in their right mind be arguing about Patrick Ramsey now? Oh, wait, I answered my own question.
CrazyCanuck 12-10-2006, 10:38 PM the way the snyder era has progressed I would not be surprised one bit if campbell was not the starter next yr,it wouldnt surprise me if brunell was here next yr,gibbs says campbell will be the starter, brunell will be backup, but first game, campbell gets sacked hard, brunell goes in,campbell doesnt see the field again till brunell has run the team into the ground
LOL
I wish I could say this was impossible but I can't.
hurrykaine 12-10-2006, 11:26 PM Campbell's time table - start playing like Brees, or at least like Romo, by middle of next year, or get used to being a career back up like Ramsey.
Brees is off the charts right now, if you really expect JC to be anywhere near that level next year you seriously should have your head checked.
I really liked how JC rebounded in the 2nd half today. He's settling in, just have to stay patient.
dgack 12-10-2006, 11:34 PM Campbell's time table - start playing like Brees, or at least like Romo, by middle of next year, or get used to being a career back up like Ramsey.
Uhh, I'd prefer if he didn't play like Romo, thanks. Have you checked the guy's stats lately? I think the bloom is off that rose. This guy has beaten Houston, Arizona, Tampa, Carolina, Indy, and stole one against the Giants in a dreadful performance.
Beaten one team with a winning record, the Colts, and we all know how awesome their defense is.
So, yeah, if we want JC to be more like Romo by the middle of next year, I think we need to have our heads examined.
irish 12-11-2006, 08:37 AM They are completely different situations and circumstances.
I'm not comparing situations, I'm talking about what Gibbs says and what he does. Often they are very different things.
As for Gibbs endorsing PR, did he or did he not say "Patrick is our guy"?
Dogtag 12-11-2006, 09:03 AM Just my opinion.
When you are named the starting QB you don't get the luxury of a time table, it is perform now or the team will falter. Your time table was the 18 months of work you did to be named the starting QB.
I hope Jason Campbell becomes the star of the NFL, but right now he reminds me of another QB that was full of promise - Heath Shuler.
