GIG - you're #686. Nothing special. :D
The crash of 04 was a dark time indeed. Basically, the timing couldn't have been worse. It was the time right around when the Champ-for-Portis trade rumors started to heat up.

I believe the crash happened in early/mid February and the new site came online the night of Feb 23/24 2004.

Damn, I don't even remember the site looking like that, thanks for the history lesson! :)
After that was when we made the switch to vbulletin, a much higher quality forum software package.

Welcome MeLindaLee. Post soon, will you?
I must have been there on the old board with a great post about L. Betts, according to that page, but at my age, I don't remember much any more.
2004 is a blur, as was 1958, 1974, and 1982.
What was te crash of 04? Was that when Matty? went on vacation and the site went down? I was ticked that they would stop the site and not give anyone heads up that they were going to do so.
That was actually when I went to Vegas to get married when it went down for a few days. That wasn't a crash, just a slight malfunction that only required one click of the mouse to reset the site, only thing was I was cruising at about 25,000 feet when the site went down that morning and I just happened to check on the site later that week in my hotel room using web TV to find that it was down.
That should never happen again though as I know have a laptop I take with me on vacation so I can keep a closer eye on things.
