It's almost about that time! I just wanted to take a quick head count to see who's interested. I think we'll go with a similar format to last year. We'll have a pay league for serious ballers, and some free leagues as well.
Last year we had an entry fee for the pay league of $10. I'd like to up the ante a bit to encourage more serious owners, last year even with the entry fee we had a couple of owners crap out on us.
I'm thinking of a $25 entry fee with a league of 14 owners. This would give us a pot of $350. We could either go winner take all style, or dish out $250 to the winner and $100 to the runner-up, or something along those lines.
So please post here and indicate which league you'd be interested in. You can participate in both the pay and free leagues if you wish.
Once Yahoo opens up the leagues I'll have more info.
If you want to play in the pay league, I'm only accepting payment by paypal this year. Last year I got burned waiting on people to send in checks. So this year it's paypal only and you will only be able to grab a team once you pay.
If you have any ideas/feedback, please post that here as well. Please note that posting here does not guarantee you a team, once the leagues open up I'll post a thread to sign up and it will be first come, first serve. This is just a head count thread to guage interest.
Thanks guys

I'm game as well. Maybe cash to the top three (third place should at least win their money back)?
skinsfanthru&thru 06-25-2004, 01:02 PM do u guys ever hold a non-fee based league? I love fantasy football, but adding money to it has always made it kind of lose it's fun factor for me cuz each roster mistake potentially lost me money. If not it's kewl, but i just wanted to see if any warpath members ever got together to make a free league?
Dave Butz Baby! 06-25-2004, 01:03 PM I'll be more than happy to play and take everyone's money!
Matty.. are you planning on using the paid Yahoo FFL manager for the pay league? I have been a league commish for the last several years and found that the paid one is great to use... the additional tools (especially StatTracker) rocked. I paid for it out of the entry fees.
Another idea (that I have used in the past to make it more interesting) was to charge for any transaction where you added a player... either from a trade or picking up a free agent. Drops were free. The first ten transactions after the draft would be free, but then $1 for each one over that. Last year, we also started with $25 entry fee and had 16 people (too many.. live and learn) for a total of $400, but with the transaction fees, the final pot was over $700.... even after taking out $100 to pay for Yahoo.
To ensure payment, I set it up so that the team owners had until 12:30 on the second Sunday after their pickup to pay. If they didn't pay, I'd remove the new player from their roster, put in a sub for the previous game and re-calculate the scores. It only took one person one time not paying and then go from a win to a loss for everyone to get in line and pay on time. Using PayPal would make this setup a breeze to deal with. I used to have to go sit in the neighborhood bar and wait for the procession of folks to bring me singles!
With that many people, I also set up the final payouts so the final four would get paid... 1st place, 50%, 2nd place 25%, 3rd place 15% and 4th place 10%. If you came in fourth, you pretty much got your money back.
Very cool... I'm ready to play!

Yepper, SFT&T... that's why they call it gambling!
;)
And yes... looks like from Matty's post there will be both a paid and free league.

 just saw that matty said something about free leagues in the first paragraph. this is why skimming posts can backfire sometimes, lol.
I'm definitely in for one of the free leagues and good choice with yahoo, I've been doing fantasy football on yahoo for the past 5 or 6 years and haven't found another fantasy football site that is as easy to operate.

FRPLG 06-25-2004, 02:34 PM I am in for a pay league. Not a big fan of the transaction payments structure but whatever everyone decides is cool.
