Hog's Breath 12-03-2006, 10:37 PM They also threw for more than their per game average against us, so it was a bad performance all around.
Without Springs playing.
And you can't tell me he wouldn't have had an impact, not after the Carolina game.

And you can't tell me he wouldn't have had an impact, not after the Carolina game.Certainly that was part of it, but we had them locked down for a quarter...so I feel Springs' presence may be a tad overrated.
Either way, doesn't change the shitty performance.

I could agree with that to some extent.
Makes you wonder how we stoned them in the 1st qtr and just whiffed the rest of the game.

The play of the defense this year has been simply bizarre.
I voted for Campbell. But, hey, it was only his third start. I'm in no way saying he should be benched. He made newbie mistakes. Big deal. I expect him to make more. As long as he is learning from them and progresses from week to week, which I have full confidence he will, that's all I care about.
As far as blaming the defense, I don't agree with it. You can't expect the D to win every game for us. I think our offense hasn't scored more than 17 points in the last 4 games or something like that. Campbell did make some poor decisions which ultimately cost the game.
The D didn't have to win the game, but c'mon man 250 yards given up on the ground?
I'm really amazed at how some are so quick to let the D off the hook, not only in this game but all season long.
When Travis Henry ripped us for 180 all we heard was how bad Brunell was.
I really don't get it.
NYCSkin 12-03-2006, 11:08 PM My goat was the coaches.
Campbell was off but he did have poor protection at times from the O line. However, the O line performed well in the running game. The D lived up (or down?!?) to their ranking--going up against the best running team in the league. And they played without Springs--who was missed when the Falcons went at Wright/Jimoh at key times in the game. So it seems that there was enough blame to go around.
I gave it to the Skins' coaches by a hair since they were outcoached. Mora and Co. put the ball in Dunn/Norwood's gut and out of Vick's arm and waited for the Skins to make mistakes. That is the very thing the Skins' coaches should have done (not only for the first quarter but for the entire game). The game seemed to turn when Saunders called that poodle reverse to ARE in the first half. In addition, Gibbs had some dubious game management decisions.
Redskin 12-03-2006, 11:08 PM young QB's make mistakes, he just outright blew this game missing easy passes and giving away a TD. The growing process is painful for the QB but even more painful for the fan. I might be alone when I say this but if we had Mark out there today I think we would have won.
CrazyCanuck 12-04-2006, 12:09 AM Someone will vote for him, just watch
I voted for Campbell.
Ya the D wasn't great but it's old news already - our D sucks. Considering Soft Springs was out (again) and they were facing a great rushing team, I don't think the D played that horrible.
I think Campbell had a bad game especially in the 2nd half. He couldn't handle the pressure at all. Granted the O-line pass protection wasn't great, but the Falcons were sending the house on many plays and you can only block so many guys. The QB has to make the quick read and find the open guy (Cooley) or get rid of the ball. JC looked sluggish today. I found he looked really slow dropping back and didn't show the same composure back there. And that INT he threw was huge and turned the whole tide of the game.
I'm not a JC hater or anything, but for this game he was the goat.

Yeah, 250 yds to the league's #1 rushing offense. What did you expect? I'm not saying the D is completely absolved from any blame, but we gotta put more than 14 points on the board. That only wins you games when you have a defense like the Bears.
Don't get me wrong, I love Campbell, but our passing game was terrible today. Even though we had some critical dropped passes, it wasn't good. We were not very good on third down conversions either which is normally a passing down. There was no reason we should not have scored more points than we did, IMO. Atlanta's D is nothing to write home about.
My biggest prob with our defense is that we didn't create any turnovers. THAT is not doing the O any favors.

I'll let the D off the hook because really we only scored 14 points...which won't win you too many NFL games. Yes the D gave up 24, but Campbell pretty much handed them 7 too. They didnt play well, but I dont think they were the sole reason why we lost, it was kinda a team effort in sucking (as ususal lol)
That being said I voted Campbell because I thought he played the worst out of anyone today. Basically he made the mistakes that were the reason we wanted him to start this year for, so that we can avoid them in the future. I'm absolutley fine with it, but I really thought his one INT was the difference in the game. Again, he made the rookie mistakes we expected him to make, I'm not mad or worried about it at all. If anything, making mistakes like that will help him in the future, and the whole reason he is playing is so we can be better in the future. If him doing that today means he wont do it in the playoffs in 2 years, then thats why we choose to start him now. I just dont want people to take this as piling on Campbell. I just thought if were picking an individuall goat, looking at just the game, I'd choose him. Although I dont think he was put in great spots either.
