12thMan 12-03-2006, 07:44 PM It's not knee jerk, in my opinion. I honestly don't know what we should do.
Last year we were saying if we could just get the offense to come around, because the defense is set. And now it seems the defense has disappeared this year. They miss tackles and have a penchant for giving up big plays.
But you know what, at the end of the day one thing is certain, this team isn't responding to this coaching staff. Whether it be tackling, scheme, clock management, personnel decisions....it all traces back to the staff.
This team isn't responding to this staff.
skinsguy 12-03-2006, 08:03 PM You gotta love this knee-jerk threads. Makes ya wonder if we have posters here who suffer from manic depression.
paulskinsfan 12-03-2006, 08:03 PM Ok you win let's fire him now and gut the team.
Again, enough with the knee-jerk overreactions. The same old crap after every loss.
So, you criticize my criticism, yet you offer no solutions? Joe Gibbs has cost this team the future in draft picks and free agency. I could live with that if he put a winner on the field, but then he takes the field and makes horrible play calls and clock management. Its easy to ride the fence, its much harder to take a stand. Ive had it. Gibbs should go, bring on Russ Grim.

Fine, you tell me where Im wrong? You defend the play calling and the personnel decisions of this coaching staff. Please try, no one else has.
So what do we do? Can Gibbs and start over at square one? Because that's what would happen. New coach = new players & new philosophy. Then all of a sudden Campbell might be the next Ramsey because he's not the hand picked guy of the new coach.
Starting over isn't the answer. We need to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to get this fixed, with this core of coaches and this core of players.
GTripp0012 12-03-2006, 08:06 PM Ok. Going for a 50 yard FG when we are up by 11, with a new kicker is a coaching decision. Poor clock management by failing to go to the hurry up offensive with 5 min. left and down by 2 scores is a coaching decision. Freakin spiking the ball at the goal line, and throwing a "fade" to Thrash while Duckett sits on the bench is a COACHING DECISION.No, going for the field goal on 4th down and too far to reasonably go for it is not a bad coaching decision, it's just a no brainer. You don't punt from the 33 YARD LINE!@#$!! IMO having a new kicker is a good reason to DO it.
Poor clock management is something like TO's wasted...I don't think you can expect a QB making his 3rd start to know the ins and outs of the game so well that he can run up to a line and call the offense there. I think they huddled after that first 1st down to call a series of plays, possibly saving time in the long run. When you play for the future, you risk sacrifcing the ability to run an efficent, effective 4 minute offense. We huddled like once when we shouldnt have, most of the drive was made in hurry up, and until the INT, I thought Campbell did it really well.
Spiking the ball at the goal line really had no effect on the game. I don't like the goalline fade, but honestly, I think Al has his hands tied with a passing attack that refuses to protect the QB and a QB who is too inexpierenced to know when he should hit his check down.
Abandoning the run was a poor coaching decision, but if you are running the ball with that much success and still can't complete 50%...that much isn't coaching.
We are playing for the future...live with it.

Will you agree that its time to get a quality GM to oversee free agency and the draft?

Hhhhmmm....let me get this straight. It's Joe Gibbs' fault for the horrible play calls (which I believe our game plan was exactly what we should've been doing all along), clock management. etc.... even though Al Saunders is the play caller. Hhhmmmmm...but it's Joe Gibbs fault for hiring Al Saunders...and it's not Daniel Snyder's fault because he just signs the checks...but then again Daniel Snyder hired Joe Gibbs... you make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Yet you don't say a word about Gregg Williams...so the defense must not be to blame at all......

We've done fine in the draft, we just never have any picks.
We don't NEED a GM, but we do NEED to change the way we approach roster building. If getting a GM is the best way to do that, lets see it.

Dear Jackass,
Joe Gibbs wanted to bring in Al Saunders, not Dan Snyder. Joe Gibbs has total control of this team. It was Gibbs decision to bring in Brunell, trade a draft pick for Brunell, and to stand by Brunell. It was Gibbs decision to wait till now to bring in JC. It was Gibbs decision to give Williams the go ahead to get whomever he wanted aka Archuletta. It was Gibbs decision to do EVERYTHING because Dan has given him total control! JOE GIBBS is to blame for the state of the Redskins people!!!
