Personally I have no problem distinguishing Gibbs 1.0 and Gibbs 2.0.
Regardless of if his name was Joe Gibbs I wouldn't want him fired at the end of this season.
Year 1 was a mess but I can understand that, first time back in a long time, he needed to adjust, and he needed a chance to bring in his own players.
Year 2 playoffs: no complaints there.
Year 3 has been a mess but I'd prefer to see him attempt to get this turned around rather than starting over at square one with a new staff.
That's my take in a nutshell.

In all seriousness Drillz, at this stage, are you trying to make a point or just antagonize?

I was totally not expecting that. Sir, you truly are a master. LMFAO.
AS for what you said Matty Year 3 has been a mess but I'd prefer to see him attempt to get this turned around rather than starting over at square one with a new staff.
I agree, mainly because of Campbell's learning process. However, as I said before, I think we'd be okay if Gibbs left for the FO full time, Williams went away, and we brought in a new head coach who's defensive minded and let Saunders have control of the offense, I think we'd be okay.
I really do think we need someone a little tougher (like Gibbs 1.0) because this team lacks discipline. I'm not saying we need Tom Coughlin, who will probably be out of a job, but someone who won't to have a cupcake training camp or stand for a ton of bonehead penalties during every game.
If Gibbs can do those things then that's awesome and I'd love to have him back. But if he as even the slighest doubt about it I hope he goes.

A new coach = a new staff and that means if Gibbs goes everyone probably goes including Saunders.
You can't bring in a new coach and hand him a staff or coordinator, just doesn't work that way.
We either plow forward with what we've got or start over, there's no inbetween.

I'm 100% serious, which is why I've posted about 50 times today. I honestly think a lot of people have a really hard time seperating the two. Gibbs seems to get a free pass because people here see him as a saint. You've got to be relative about the job that he's doing here.
Maybe I went about showing it in an overly dramatic way, but that's besides the point.

Well put. I fully agree.
Im done...with this thread! ;)
CrazyCanuck 12-04-2006, 03:19 PM This thread is garbage.
Criticizing Gibbs is fine, I do it too. But I can't fathom how a Redskins fan, especially one for 20 years, would ever want Gibbs to go.
I mean before Gibbs came back the big talk at the Warpath was whether we'd get Fassel or Dennis Green for chrst sake. Is your memory that short?
Look at last year's SB coaches. It took the great Bill Cowher 4 years to reach a Super Bowl and 14 years to finally win one. It took Holmgren 7 years to reach the SB with the Seahawks and he still hasn't won one. Even Norv Turner lasted 7 years here. And now some of you guys wanna throw Gibbs under the bus after 3 years?
Gibbs has tried to do everything to win now as well as set up the franchise for the future. He brought in top coaches who could take over the reigns down the road. He drafted a young QB for the future even though we already had 2 QBs on the roster. I mean what do you want from the guy? I find some of your attitudes towards Gibbs to be somewhere between disrespectful and blasphemous.
The day Gibbs came back was one of the happiest days of my life. And the day he decides to leave will be one of the saddest. I thank god and count my lucky stars every single day that he is at the helm, and so should you.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and here's mine:
To all the fickle, ungrateful fans who want Gibbs to go, I say this - be very careful what you wish for.

Just trying to keep it light. Mondays are such an emotional drain on me, especially after a loss.
