I love having gibb's as coach, he's a great guy, with passion for the franchise, who doesn't listen to the media. He stays composed, and it's nice to not always be questoining our coach like I did with Spurrier.
Im done....Gibbs must go.Pages :

The Zimmermans 12-04-2006, 02:33 PM I love having gibb's as coach, he's a great guy, with passion for the franchise, who doesn't listen to the media. He stays composed, and it's nice to not always be questoining our coach like I did with Spurrier. SmootSmack 12-04-2006, 02:35 PM I always thought the act itself served as a profound example of selflessness. He stood up in front of the whole world and showed that he was not infallible and was willing to step down as the primary playcaller for a guy who at the time had established himself as the absolute #1 offensive mastermind. Calling Gibbs washed up because he brought in the NFL's #1 offensive coordinator to enhance the Redskins offense is at best irrational. Anyone can argue decision making based hindsight. Yeah. I guess what I was trying to ask is what are people more upset about with Gibbs: A. He's lost it, can't coach in today's NFL B. He handed over the offense to Saunders, when he (Gibbs) should have just stayed in complete day-to-day control The Zimmermans 12-04-2006, 02:35 PM but Gibbs is the President of the organization (front office)! as president and head coach, i'm sorry, but i just cannot see where gibbs isn't to blame. Who decided to make Gibb's president and head of personnel decisions...........Danny Boy, Gibb's is not a proven talent evaluator, But Snyder doesn't know any better. Maybe Gibb's didn't want to come back, and DAn convinced him. ArtMonkDrillz 12-04-2006, 02:36 PM That's what I was trying to say. Maybe I wasn't clear Oh dear, now I've gone cross eyed. Maybe I shouldn't have ben so rude as to answer your question with a question (I apologize). I don't think I would go so far as to say that Gibbs has completely lost it because I really don't want to discount the playoff season last year. But our offense was obviously struggling at the end of the season. Maybe because our WRs were getting banged up and Brunell is older than the new mayor of DC. Either way Gibbs felt like he had to make a change. Bringing in Saunders, to me, is a sign that Gibbs thinks that he himself has lost it. Maybe that was a bad move. Maybe we just needed to let Campbell do his thing, as well as bring in some new blood at WR and we would have been fine. Maybe if the D hadn't collapsed we'd be golden. I guess we'll never know. I really don't know if Gibbs is the problem, but at the same time I don't know that he's really giving us the best chance to win. So basically, if Matty were to make his poll of should he stay or should he go (weird, that song was just on the radio) I doubt I would answer it. 12thMan 12-04-2006, 02:39 PM Who decided to make Gibb's president and head of personnel decisions...........Danny Boy, Gibb's is not a proven talent evaluator, But Snyder doesn't know any better. Maybe Gibb's didn't want to come back, and DAn convinced him. The only reason Gibbs came back was his love for the franchise and the city. I strongly believe it had very little to do with Snyder as a person, although Gibbs more than likely has great regard for him. But I think it was all about the city and the team..and his desire to turn things around. One thing's for sure, Joe Gibbs is a Redskin through and through. It's too bad he's having a tough time finding some to play for him. 12thMan 12-04-2006, 02:44 PM I think what a lot of people struggle with on this issue is separating Joe Gibbs the coach from Joe Gibbs the man. ArtMonkDrillz 12-04-2006, 02:47 PM I think what a lot of people struggle with on this issue is separating Joe Gibbs the coach from Joe Gibbs the man. Even more people are having trouble separating Joe Gibbs the DC legend ('81-'92) from Joe Gibbs the current coach of the 4-8 Redskins ('04-). MTK 12-04-2006, 02:49 PM that's a pretty loose definition of balance... 4/5 key plays through the air over a course of the entire game! 4 to 5 additional plays from what we had. That would have helped extend a few drives and give us more scoring chances, and if we could have beat ATL's blitz they would have eventually backed off from bringing pressure. ArtMonkDrillz 12-04-2006, 02:49 PM I know it's tough, but just pretend these are two different people: http://static.flickr.com/24/39409469_815a1524e6_m.jpg http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/28/281459.jpg freddyg12 12-04-2006, 02:54 PM Even more people are having trouble separating Joe Gibbs the DC legend ('81-'92) from Joe Gibbs the current coach of the 4-8 Redskins ('04-). Current coach & team prez, which he's never been before. As for coaching, I don't know if your statement's accurate, Gibbs II got us as far (2nd rnd playoffs) as we've been since Gibbs left in 93. He's still learning & has made some mistakes, but this is also on the job training for him as team president. I do believe strongly that he'll correct some of his mistakes, maintain the coaching staff & at least have a winning team next year. |
