I dont think CP is worth as much now as he was in July. I dont think CP would fetch as much as most on this site think. He's a good 2nd tier back but not an elite like LT or SA.

Second tier? Wtf?! The only back in the NFL that is arguably better is Tomlinson. Portis is more complete and durable than Alexander. He's one of the best pure runners in the league, and he blocks better than any tailback currently playing. And don't get me started on Betts. This is a stupid thread... :banghead:

Clinton doesnt really seem to fit in Saunders's system. Saunders's system seems to involve alot of cutback lanes and catching the ball out of the flat. Portis is more of a downhill runner, he just keeps going forward, and he does not have the best hands. I think Portis is terrific, but economically we could have someone just as productive as him in Saunders's system for much much less. I hope Portis adapts to Saunders's system or Saunders molds his system to fit CP more, but if things do not work out and he does not produce under Saunders like he did for Gibbs, what do you think we could get for him? Draft pick wise preferably, or mention people you think we need and could get for him.

I dont agree. Saunders system creates space for the running backs. once our team gets this system down and running it smoothly CP will have awesome games. the guy was hurt from day one and never was 100%. Portis is an amazing talent with heart, hussle and determination that so many of todays players lack. This guy picks up the blitz better than any RB in the NFL, will run his ass off down field to block or lay someone out. He is a leader in the locker room. We would be crazy to get rid of him now. Especially since we gave up the best CB in the nfl to get him. We would have absolutely nothing to show for that move. Lay off Portis, the guy is on IR for crying out load.

You must be insane. Under no circumstances should the Skins trade Portis. This offense is tailor-made for Clinton Portis. Don't you remember the sprint draws and the mis-direction plays that went for big yards early in the season. Two problems occurred this year:

1) Portis should have never attempted to tackle that guy in the preseason. Its easy to say that now, but that one play may have killed the season. The Skins were tenative in preseason afterwards and got off to a lousy start because of it. The lingering effects of that shoulder injury hampered him during the season.

2) Mark Brunell did not execute the offense as planned. Saunders offense calls for quick reads and throwing to spots prior to the receiver making his cuts. Brunell didn't trust his reads and refused to throw ahead of the receivers. He seemed to mostly check down. That allowed teams to bring in their safeties and stop the run and play tight pass coverage. When teams play tight pass coverage, you have to challenge them deep to keep the defense honest. Brunell refused or was incapable of doing that. I think that in the long run Campbell will execute this offense better and open up the running game.

Betts couldn't hold Portis's JOCK.

it's so cute how he pretends to be Clinton out there when he plays..and Betts is a real good player.

Portis is going nowhere...he's young and very good. Betts is so average it's rediculous.

nice spelling but no,....Betts is a little above average I think and he feeds off of Portis' raw talent and it inspires him to run better, maybe even run different!
