Rexi. What do you think of A. Smith so far? I personally don't even know why he was drafted so high. I think he is 2nd or 3rd round talent. He's getting better but he's not a first pick, blue chip type of QB. IMO Jason Campbell has more raw ability and is going to be a better passer than Smith. What's your honest opinion on this?To be honest I agree. I didn't like the pick at first because he had been going up against inferior competition and nothing really stood out to me as #1 pick material aside from being intelligent. It was just a bad draft to have the #1 pick in. In last year's draft he probably would have been the 4 QB taken, in the 2nd round like you suggest. He still hasn't shown anywhere near what I expect out him except that 4th quarter last Thursday.
I don't agree with Gore being in the same class as LT, No one is. What really sets him apart, besides his awesome physical tools, is his vision. He has the special ability to find holes. Marcus Allen had it, LT has it.
724Skinsfan 12-19-2006, 08:56 PM Barry Sanders, too.
paulskinsfan 12-19-2006, 09:23 PM Gore's running ability is no mystery to anyone who watched Miami football neither is the fact that he's running on borrowed time with those surgically repaired knees. I give him at most 3 seasons, including this one before injuries take their toll. That gives the 49er's two years to make a run at the championship with Gore.
You obviously dont remember Terry "Rubber Knees" Allen. Both ACLs, gone!

I remember 21 TD Terry very well. He had two awesome seasons for us and finished his career in mediocrity. I also remember Jamal Anderson, Ki-Jana Carter and Terrell Davis.
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 12-19-2006, 09:53 PM Rexi,
Gore definately looks like he's going to be a stud of a back. However, to compare him at this point in his career to the likes of E. Smith is crazy. Moreover, I think you underestimate LT's ability to shed tackles. LT looks small, but he's 220+ and has VERY powerful legs. When LT gets hit, he shed tackles like he's covered in grease and has one of the meanest stiff-arms in the league. To say otherwise is simply crazy-talk.
Redskinhog1963 12-19-2006, 09:56 PM LT is the best running back to come into the nfl since barry sanders.personally,i think when it's all said and done,LT may be up there in legend with a man who i think was the best nfl RB ever, walter payton.

I don't think it's crazy to compare the two becuase I'm talking about ability, not what they have accomplished. With LT, he isn't nearly as powerful as Gore, not even close. When Gore get's a decent crack from the line he will usually punish whoever tries to tackle him and push piles nearly every play. With LT if he breaks a tackle it's usually an arm tackle or just a poor angle taken in the first place. He isn't close to Gore in terms of power running. Just like Gore isn't even close to LT when it comes to speed, like I said the are very different backs. Gore relying on power and vision to be successful where as LT relies on his ridiculous straight ahead speed after his first cut.

Hold on. I want to make certain we are are all talking about the same two players: LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers and Frank Gore of San Francisco 49ers.
Redskin 12-19-2006, 11:45 PM Gore is Sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooow
Lt is fast
Gore is Immensly powerful
