You must admit that Campbell holds the promise of taking this offense to places that Brunell simply couldn't. Brunell ran the offense on the kiddy field and with Campbell we've moved up to the big-boy field. The Bucs defense was definitely stretched at times today. Yes Brunell took to much blame, but on their central argument that Brunell's lack of arm strength/caution was choking the engine, I believe that the Brunell Bashers were thoroughly vindicated today.I'm pretty sure I'm on record saying that Campbell will (a certainty) surpass the level of play Brunell has played at this season. But that performance, although more than acceptable all things considered, didn't do it. I'm not doubting it will happen; probably later this season. I would say I'm encouraged, but I expected this. What I was impressed with is that he took shots without turning the ball over. But as much as we complain about check downs from Brunell, Campbell only completed 55%, so hopefully in time he will learn when to find his back open to better sustain drives.
And a running game wouldn't hurt.
Given the conditions, a very solid performance.

JC played well considering he had no portis or moss. But some of the play calling was terrible. Now that being said if we had a defense that could stop someone the results might have been better. I am starting to think Gregg Williams defensive scheme has been figured out by all in the nfl.
He played well enough to win. he had no rushing to help out. The offensive line is highly suspect in protection, and terrible in run blocking. Sooo....yea, he did a good job. I'm very happy with him. From the pass play in the first qtr when he dragged around the defender on his shirtail and still completed the pass!!! LOOKS GOOD

I was one of the people who gave him a C. While I think we may have found our future QB its too early to tell and we were playing a 2/7 team. Their D is ranked around 23rd and we only converted 4/16 3rd downs and alot of his yards did come from a prevent D. Now with that being said I was pleased with his first start and thought that he looked comfortable behind center for his first start. I agree with what most people have said here about him but I will reserve an A for a W. While the D looked bad we did hold them to 20 point and did not convert enough third downs (yes I know we had no running threat).

I'd give him a B. He looked very good finding the open receiver, going downfield, and evading the rush, but he did miss open receivers high and low a number of times. His accuracy could've been better, and we had some three and outs because of that when a drive should've began, but I'm just thrilled that he recognizes receivers are getting open and tries to get the ball to them unlike "Make One Read" Mark.

Overall pretty decent. A lot of QBs can look good they're first game though. What I really want to see is how he progresses.
I didn't see him look off receivers too much and his passes seemed a bit high on some of the shorter passes. Which leads me to this somewhat peculiar question. Is it harder for a tall qb to throw short to intermediate passes to short wide receivers?
no, but that's kinda his thing. his deep ball is much better than the shorter stuff, which is only half winds some times. mentioned that a couple weeks ago though ;) it's the same as it was in college... hopefully he can work on it.

His biggest weakness right now does seem to be getting the right touch on the shorter passes. A lot of that comes with developing trust with his receivers and knowing each other's tendencies.
I don't want to make this about Brunell, but he consistently spread the ball around this season as much as Campbell did yesterday. That's not what separates the two of them.

I think the poise he showed was the most positive aspect of his game. With that poise and ability to run the offense on the road everything else should develop over time.

Jason Campbell had a very good game. He showed poise and the ability to throw downfield with accuracy. Too bad the receivers dropped some. He also had good pocket presence, he knew when to take off and run and when to check down. He moved around well in the pocket. He did all this when Tampa Bay was sending the kitchen sink at him. The offensive line play on passing down was good. The blocking on running plays was mediocre. The defense didn't help at all. They were on the field too long and didn't the Skins offense enough opportunities. The two turnovers were touchdown saving turnovers that prevented scores but didn't give the offense an advantage.

B+
He needs to work on his consistency, but he looked good for his first start. Honestly, I'm not sure he did much better than MB would have done, but the big difference is that this is JC's starting point - MB had peaked.
Hopefully there are exciting things to come!
