The Zimmermans 11-20-2006, 04:59 PM I don't look to luck when evaluating our defense's performance. It should have been pass interference on Rogers, then he was too busy celebrating to realize that they caught it. Plus, why couldnt anyone else have gone after that ball, very typical, we are always "unlucky", i'd consider it more unaware than unlucky. maybe we could have recovered the fumble sean taylor forced as well. By the way, why does rogers talk sh&t, when he gets beat more often than not, im starting to really dislike him. Is williams the reason that our players never jump on fumbles and deflections? Hey, I'm still happy we got two turnovers, finally got over that hump. The Zimmermans 11-20-2006, 05:01 PM ladell is a fumbler, you will see once he gets more of the load. Portis is just amazing at avoiding fumbles. That Guy 11-20-2006, 05:08 PM Yes, but as much as the vertical game was a part of this week's offense, you'd be fooling yourself to think the offense as a whole played any better. We didn't improve in yards (passing or rushing), points, or any other metric. in the eagles game: 6 punts, 3 points, 1 int (16/31, 132yrds, 0 tds) - with moss + portis + almost 150 yards on the ground vs TB: 5 punts, 20 points, 0 ints (19/34, 196yrds, 2 tds) - w/o moss/portis and under 70 rushing yards. so, by every metric it was better than what finally got brunell benched. campbell's stats were also better than brunells in the dallas game (yards, tds, turnovers), and again, brunell had portis and a running game. Redskins_P 11-20-2006, 05:13 PM Yeah, it looked like Rogers was running around to celebrate, then realized, "Oops - they caught it!". I saw that too. Rogers is really starting to irritate me. The guy doesn't even seem focused. Maybe thats why I see him all the time in Tysons taking shots in Coastal Flats..... charlielyons 11-20-2006, 05:14 PM campbell had a pretty solid game, i really liked his poise, scrambling ability and the way he threw on the run like the last touchdown, if we had any kind of defense and a running game we would have won pretty easy. he should have like 26-34 with 200+ yards but the recivers dropped alot of passes. SmootSmack 11-20-2006, 05:21 PM I saw that too. Rogers is really starting to irritate me. The guy doesn't even seem focused. Maybe thats why I see him all the time in Tysons taking shots in Coastal Flats..... The worst was when he let up on the corner blitz. He had a clear path to the QB and just stopped GTripp0012 11-20-2006, 05:44 PM in the eagles game: 6 punts, 3 points, 1 int (16/31, 132yrds, 0 tds) - with moss + portis + almost 150 yards on the ground vs TB: 5 punts, 20 points, 0 ints (19/34, 196yrds, 2 tds) - w/o moss/portis and under 70 rushing yards. so, by every metric it was better than what finally got brunell benched. campbell's stats were also better than brunells in the dallas game (yards, tds, turnovers), and again, brunell had portis and a running game.If we are looking at the average Brunell game, or the expectation for him, why on earth would you look at the Eagle game (our worst game this year as a team, bar none)? Everyone was horrible. Campbell would have been awful in that game too. Just add it to Brunell's season average and move on. Campbell's Yards/Attempt Sunday was more than a yard below Brunell's season average. If he completes the pass to Lloyd, it would be very close...but drops/nice defensive plays don't count on Brunell's stats either. Campbell did very well, all things considered. But just looking at the TB game and nothing but the TB game, I think Brunell would have done better. Good enough to overcome the defense? I doubt it, in which case we made the right move with the QB change. GTripp0012 11-20-2006, 05:47 PM he should have like 26-34 with 200+ yards but the recivers dropped alot of passes.Well, he's gotta play with the deck he's been handed. A lot of things have gone wrong for us this year, maybe the least of which is receiver play, but Randle El and Lloyd and even Cooley have dropped some balls this year, for both quarterbacks now. We were promised a mystical "spark" this week to help our receivers hands not be so hard, and help them try harder...but I guess that didn't happen. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 11-20-2006, 05:51 PM So if you look at the situation in a vaccuum, Jason Campbell vs. Mark Brunell this year, this team, we only have one Campbell performance to grade, but it was below what you would have expected from Mark Brunell. Maybe below your expectations, but I think everyone else would have expected Brunell to play worse. |
