More like flacid resistance.

Not sure, you could be right. I wasn't paying THAT much attention.

EDIT: If anyone caught the original, it was not a freudian slip.

It's certainly a long-term situation, setting everything up so when Gibbs steps asides, he knows he's got quality guys taking over. Same growing pains happened 2 years ago when Gibbs came back. It takes time for an offense to be implemented and click. I don't think the coaching staff thought it would take this long, and thought they had a playoff run in hand.

I wouldn't call this season a waste. It looks like Brunell could be led out to pasture after this season if Campbell does well. Saunders will get all gears going on this juggernaut. While it sucks now, long term is looking good.

The only problem with the LT plan is that Saunders is just as old as Gibbs.

He looks to be in great shape (running down the field with players) so as long as he's willing to call plays then age shouldn't be an issue.

Actually this may work to our benefit. The stress of being a head-coach is obviously greater than being an OC (or a DC). Saunders may decide that head-coaching is not in his future and decide to remain an OC. Why change jobs when your current job is paying like a head coach.

Exactly. If I got paid the same as the director here and got to keep my current job, I'd love that shit.

i remember reading something that said for some reason AS didnt want to be a head coach. Thats why he didnt take one of the many HC jobs this year, and his wife LOVES DC. which i think works out well bc. hasnt GW basically been told he will be the next head coach ( i know its some million dollar bonus if he doesnt) but i think thats smart of Gibbs. The best OC out there get em in, get the offense installed, so that by the time Gibbs II is over he can just step out and know thats the team is in capable hands, With the roles clearly defined GW in charge of the D/ ST and AS running the O. I have the feeling we will be SET for years to come

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure that Saunders is six or seven years younger than Gibbs

That was the plan when GW had a good defense...maybe by the time Gibbs steps down the defense will be back up and running but he is not getting the Head Coach job as long as he is running a bottom feeding defense.

He's a little younger but they are both in their 60's.

He wanted the KC job and got mad when it wasn't offered to him. That's how we were able to get him.
