Though his season ended because of a broken hand, running back Clinton Portis will also have shoulder surgery in the near future to repair a torn labrum suffered during the Redskins' first preseason game back in August, the Washington Post reported. Team doctors said Portis faces four to five months of rehabilitation following the operation
I wonder how much this will effect him next year...

Shouldn't have much if he get's the surgery soon IMO. I realize he might be more vunerable to injury in the future, but it is better to get this out of the way than to play semi-hurt for the rest of his carreer.
He needed shoulder surgery regardless, so it's better that he's getting a jump on things now rather than waiting until the end of the season.

I agree that this shouldnt hurt him next year, I just hope that this isnt the beginning of the end for him...

We will be fine, and I am positive the front office knows this too. Look for a late round RB drafted within the next two years.

Yeah, I'm worried about portis, RB's are just too replaceable, and with a long absence, his value may drop significantly.

he'll miss a lot of the offseason because of it. other than that, just getting used to being comfortable using it again to take hits again...

I'm already having PORTIS withdrawls.
I wonder if they would consider allowing him to put on one of those infamous costumes and dance with the cheerleaders. That would be a classic! I'm sure he would be game!
