I checked my crackpot sources. And this is not something new. I didn't hear the show, I'll listen to the archived version later, but he apparently didn't specify enough on air.

But anyway, someone (don't know who) told Collinsworth back in the preseason that they needed the Brunell from early 2005 because Campbell wasn't ready yet. And there had never really been any intention to go with Collins long term except for in an absolute emergency. Anyhow, long story short-it's not new.

I had a feeling that this was something he was told back in camp or something. Just didn't make much sense that someone in the organization would say that right now.

ANd you have to remember that as far as stats are concerned Brunell gets credit for all the yards that Santana/Cooley tore it up after catching a short screen.

That's true, but you can say that about a lot of people in the league. You do still have to factor in YAC.

I try to listen the all the BS in the league I can get. It's not like I have any connections or anything. That particular item seems like total bs as I have not heard one peson in or out of the Skins org say anything negative about JC. With all the haters around the world, you woud think something like that would have surfaced before now.
However, I don't like hearing that

I doubt Collingsworth is lying or confused about what he was told if in fact that is what he said? But Gibbs has been delusional towards Brunell, which just goes to show how out of touch he really is with his ability to evaluate talent that is playing every sunday right in front of his face, the possibility exsists that Campbell may be a complete bust, I really can't imagine him being worse than Brunell? But if so what does that say about gibbs ability to identify talent? You would think the one area that he would be on the money is the QB position? Regardless if Campbell can play or not this is addition by subtraction, we already know we can't win with Brunell, and this last half of the season will go far in telling where we stand QB wise for the future, it would be nice to see Campbell excel but I wouldn't get my hopes to high.

I have some sources that say that Collinsworth like to say provocative, negative, critical things for fun.

Few people are going to be praising Jason Campbell to the skies right now. He is replacing one of the people with the most integrity and dignity in sports, Mark Brunell. No one on the team is going to dance a jig on Brunell's back while he is down.

The reasons we drafted Jason are very sound. It was an excellent, bold move to draft a franchise quarterback when we had the opportunity. Campbell will have the rest of the season to learn from, and hopefully in general fans will be very supportive so he can just focus on getting himself adjusted to his new role.

He has all the tools and he has the humility and winning spirit which are very important. I think Campbell will have a great career, will win at least one Super Bowl, and be one of the great Redskins.

Did I miss all those games that Campbell played where he showed everyone he can't play? I mean if they think he can't play they must be basing that on some type of evidence. Certainly no one would say a guy can't play when the guy has never even taken a snap. No, that'd never happen.

Let's allow Campbell a shot before any of us even bother fretting over it. The guy clearly has some skills. Yoy don't start at Auburn for 3 years and go 13-0 your senior year and have nothing to offer. Maybe he wont be Peyton but he certainly wont be Ken Dorsey. That's a guy who 'can't play'.

Campbell's performance in the preseason was IMHO superior to Mark Brutal's and infinately better than Collins.

Under a great deal of pressure, he showed a tremendous amount of poise and confidence. On top of that, he was able to make some throws that #8 hasn't made since he has been a Redskin.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

I just heard him on the Dan Patrick show, he said he was talking to someone inside the Redskins organization and this person told him that they pray for Mark Brunell every night because the other two guys "can't play".

Just to clarify, the leak came from someone with the initials MAB.

Anyone have a raging clue who that could be?

Remember Brunelle is second string so Campbell can be pulled a few times at halftime like joe liked to do back in the day.
