I havent heard it yet, if its true I think its really stupid. Very similar to jumping the gun with Patten last year and putting him on IR.

** IN NO WAY DO I THINK THE FOLLOWING WILL HAPPEN **

But looking at the next three games, they arent games I expect to win (except maybe TB), but they are all in my mind winable. God forbid we rip off 3 straight games and have some hope of making things interesting and Portis is on IR, stupid!

However, as soon as we are mathmatically eliminated (and dont take this as saying I think we have a realistic shot), then rest Portis. He was really banged up all year long and I think the extra rest will do him good for 2007.

This is completely false. Portis was just on the John Thompson show and expects to play again this season.

I'm starting to wonder where the information came from. The Washington Post, XXX Radio, and 980 Sportstalk (until the John Thompson show) were all reporting it.

Can we get this confirmed before I drop him from my fantasy team? :(

Two years in a row I've lost my first round pick to the IR and my 2nd rounder has been one of the bigger busts of the year. I need to draft better.

I know how you feel. Guess who my #1 pick this year was? Shaun Alexander.

This is strange. I don't know why the post would have that article based solely on speculation.

In the interview, Portis said that the surgery went well and he has not spoken to one person in the organization yet.

it's true

I can't imagine he would lie on the show and I would be even more surprised if they made the decision without consulting him. I don't think that would sit well with him.

on comcast sports net they said that he would probably go on ir shortly after consalting with team officials. he was also talking and said he would try to talk the team officials out of doing it, but it is probably going to happen

we got excited, went out and overspent on the wrong players while letting good ones go. (clark, lavar, harris, and prioleau's spots have been downgraded this year). a new offensive system (that isn't geared towards our talent) hurt, and injuries hurt too, so did a lack of depth (but we dealt with that last year without being THIS bad).

that said, portis was on sportstalk 980 at 5:15pm today and said he hasn't talked to gibbs yet, it'll be 4-8weeks to heal, and he's not sure what's going to happen yet. I'd think with our depth and our record, it'd be best for him to get everything fixed ASAP and use the time to heal and get ready for 2007.

I know players want to play, but honestly, if we're 5-9 with 2 games left, what would be the point? I mean, i'm fine with nor IR'ing him just in case campbell wins 6 in a row or something crazy (it's not like you'll get anyone at this point to fill that spot and help the team), but i wouldn't throw him back in if we're totally out of it.
