We go through QBs like rednecks go through skoal, so I can understand the point that hess is trying to make. Outside of Joey T. we've managed to win Super Bowls without a true franchise QB.
We're long overdue for a franchise QB. I'm really hoping JC is the answer.
I hope you are right about JC, but it still makes me sad about this year. However, my son said to me last night "Mom, the Steelers did it!"... :)
There is always hope!

yeah and "big ben" fundamentally is nowhere NEAR the QB that campbell is.

I'm just saying that this is the way the cookie crumbles around here. QBs have NEVER been our strength and I just don't see JC becoming this amazing QB. I think he'll play well enough to get us a ring some day though.
I think that Sammy Baugh, Sonny Jurgensen, Joe Theisman, Doug Williams and Mark Rypien might disagree with your assessment that "QBs have NEVER been our strength" (Hell, throw Billy Kilmer in there for kicks too).

Even if Campbell turns out not to be elite, but a decent qb who can get the job done, I'll be happy.

I agree all of the intangibles are there lets just hope it translates to some success on the playing field.

How would anyone know that since JC has not even been active for a game let alone play in one.

More than anything else, what I saw from JC in the preseason was poise.
That poise will carry him even more than his arm and mobility will.

Thank You. If people are going to make comparisons like these, they have to look at the entire history of the franchise. If not, then they should preface their statement indicating a specific time period.
