We need to "shut down" the site through Monday after losses to avoid threads like these. Doubt it would help though really
no what would help would be shutting down the LOSSES.
come on being a Redskin fan is a unique and unfortunate position in the NFL. you have to admit, no team makes more money off their fans, riles them up to a more fever pitch, and sets us up higher for a fall. year after year.
the season is basically a set up for the OFFseason. we have a right to be angry. more than most.

Isn't it the coaches fault for dishing away solid players for new sexy players and having that fail, thus forcing remaining players to get used to someone elses playstyle, new faces, new everything. This team is a mess and squarly in the lap of Joe Gibbs. He's no longer immune to the criticism from fans. I like to give my coaches 3 years to get things straight. 2/3 losing seasons isn't so hot, pair that with one improbable run to the playoffs and some really exciting games.
I cant comment on the Beathard comments, I wasn't really aware of football at that point, but I think many of the comments Offiss makes here have merit. Can anyone really argue that Gibbs has done a good job with talent evaluations and draft picks?
Perhaps too much emphasis has been placed on pass acomplishments when it comes to Joe Gibbs. Much of our trust, and hope has been placed on what he did in the past. I am a firm believer in the fact that, that which is past and gone is irrevocable, wise men have more to do with time and things yet to come. Gibbs has continually said since his return, the past buys you nothing, he's going to be judged on what he does now, though his legacy will always remain. The game is played much different now than it was when Gibbs left in 92. I do not believe you can be away from the game as long as Gibbs was away, come back and instantly begin to make personell decisions because of his limited knowledge of league.
Bobby Bethard was known for his team building. It's what inspired Jack Cooke to bring him here from Miami after building that Dolphin team which holds the distinction of being the only team to go undefeated in a season. Bethard and Gibbs, like Gibbs and Casserly had their differences when it came to aquiring talent, but talent they always had.

Gibbs deserves some criticism for personnel mistakes. However, he has made some good moves. To wit:
1. Drafting Taylor instead of Winslow 2.
2. Drafting Cooley.
3. Marcus Washington.
4. Cornelius Griffin.
5. Santana Moss.
All solid moves. You win some you lose some. They are 3 - 6 so the critics can say that the above points are neither "hear" nor "their". Ultimately how good a GM you are is based on how many games you win.
Also, those who worship at the altar of Beathard should take some time and find out who the following people are:
1. Bob Slater
2. Tory Nixon
3. Walter Murray
There's no way Beathard made any mistakes.
He's not even guilty of taking Leaf. Hey everyone is allowed one botched pick, right?
What's that, Gibbs took Desmond Howard! Oh the horror!

I'm interested in seeing if any GM can duplicate what he did with the Dolphins. Yoy're right, I've never seen a GM who didn't botch a few, but in Bethadrs defense, the proof is in the pudding.
