Hey to call out BB on one pick is really not fair, we all know he wanted Manning but had to settle for Leaf, that is an awfully tough judgement on him, did he get it wrong? Absolutly! But the NFL was almost split about which player Leaf or Manning would be better, nobody is perfect, but BB has been right far far greater than he's been wrong, can that be said about Gibbs as a personel man?

He wanted Manning but had to settle for Leaf? If he really wanted Manning he would have given up all he had given up to move up to #1, not #2. No. No one is perfect. Except you and Ramsey of course.

But look, if people want to keep calling out Gibbs for Howard then I'll keep calling out Beathard for Leaf.

This thread cracks me up. The only time Offiss ever starts a new thread its to bash Gibbs, but when we win he's no where to be found. He just loves to piss on Gibbs. And he has this huge infatuation with Ramsey.

I think this is like his third Beathard thread. Is he Bobby Beathard???

do you have a cardboard cutout of the man at your home in which you bow and pray to several times a day?

I am not in the custom to arguing with 8yr olds but I will give some advice, when trying to mock someone a little originality is alway's helpfull. Now put on your PJ's and go to bed.

A few things seem certain.

They can't evaluate talent worth shit.

and It seems like a different Gibbs the second go round.

So what, my dad can beat up your dad!

Again your wrong, he couldn't get the #1 so he moved in to the #2 slot in hopes that Manning would fall to him but willing to settle for Leaf.

When Gibbs has half the track record drafting players as BB it will be fair to compare the two, but until that happens don't waste your breath.

Gibbs has been living in fantasy land since his return 3 years ago, he has completly lost whatever it was he had in the past, whether it's his football instinct, or what I believe and have believed all along is one Bobby Beathard. He has absolutly no clue when it comes to talent evaluation, and that not only includes who get's drafted or traded for, but who see's playing time.

Gibbs stepped into the front office as if he knew the NFL better than the NFL itself, he immediatly began the Steinbrenner building format, and that is sign people on reputation alone and what they have done in the past, rather than evaluating that player and see if he fit's in with what you want to do, and can he still do what he was once capable of doing, with no real regard for the draft, you see that is how someone who is incapable or incompetent in talent evaluation get's by on the pro level, just sign established talent, but as we can see that can become very expensive and blow up in your face in a hurry.

It is becoming very easy to see where Gibbs success came from in the 80's, it was Bobby Beathard, BB alway's had a plethara of talent on those teams, and he alway's made sure that if Gibbs made a change at a particular position there was another player waiting in the wings to succeed.

Does anyone really think that BB would have given up what we gave up for Portis? NO way! Especially with a Stephen Jackson coming out who would have been perfect for what Gibbs wanted to do on offense and that's pound the ball, do you think there was anyway that Brunell would have been brought in? No way! Every GM at the time said Brunell was no longer willing to stand in the pocket long enough to allow recievers to break free because he would no longer take a hit, do you think that if the average GM was able to make this evaluation one of the all time greats would not?

Beathard would have drafted better players for minimal contracts or standard contracts, than the players we blew out of the water with grossly overpaid contracts. After watching Carter it is very apparent that he has no first step, he is alway's late coming off the ball, he has no pass rush moves to speak of and he can't disengauge from a defender once they lock horns. AA need I say more, except this, we had a better player on our roster who wanted to stay and we couldn't see our hand in front of our face, dumped him for AA who will now spend most of his time on the sidelines. Then we can turn to Rocky another guy we just had to have and of coarse can't sniff the field. Do I even need to bring up Campbell? Funny the cowboy's had all the same problems we have and yet a simple change at QB and there off and running, and I don't want to here about our victory last week, everyone know's we were as lucky as lucky gets to win that game, we didn't take it, the Boy's gave it to us, TO's sure TD drop, a blocked fieldgoal and a facemask to boot, come on we should be 2-7 right now.

Now here's what does it for me, Gibbs utter distain to give anyone but Brunell playing time at QB, it's boarderline psychotic, we are getting blown out and he just keeps running Brunell out onto the field, 2 of the last 3 games Campbell could have played the 4th quarter and Gibbs is still running Brunell out there, I JUST DON'T GET IT? Brunell must have pictures of Gibbs with farm animals or something because there is no way he should still be on that field, so for anyone who thinks Ramsey recieved a fair shot, just take a long hard look at what Gibbs percieves as a fair shot in Brunell, I still have to laugh at how fast he yanked Ramsey as if the world was about to end, and this undieing loyalty to a QB who is absolutly horrible.

BB proved he can win without Gibbs, he built SB teams everywhere he went, Gibbs hasen't proved he can even win games without BB. Case and point BB was able to get Bobby Ross to a SB, it just goes to show you that superior talent can go a long way in the NFL. It can even make a hall of famer out of you.

As far as Williams goes, this is the first season since Gibbs arrived that Williams hasen't been able to carry his A**, which say's more about Gibbs inability to step up and carry a defense for once than Williams having an off year, yes Gibbs recieved upgrades on offense this year with proven players, Williams although thought was getting upgrades recieved downgrades which is a huge reason why we are where we are on defense. But I will lay some of the blams on what it looks like to me as a coaching slump by Williams, he has to put Rogers up tight on the reciver, this will let Rogers who is very, very physical for a corner to jam and run with the reciever, he just doesn't have the type of reactions to play in space and react to the reciever after the reciever get's some momentum going, he then has to sell out more and bring more blitz packages, I would rather give up the occasional big play than to give a QB all day to find a WR, because our front 4 will not pressure the QB, and we will die a slow death if we stay in that type of D, he need's to get back to the Buddy Ryan philosophy and that's attack, attack, attack!!!!!! If you don't get to the QB with 7 guy's then send 8 but alway's attack.

As for Joe Bugel? Well what I saw yesterday was not guy's getting beat on our line man to man, but coaching breakdowns, I don't think Bugel can catchup with these new blitzing defense as well, I know the guy is a legend here but I have to say we have no ability to run on short yardage play's, we are lucky if we can make half a yard when teams stack up against us let alone convert a third and two on the ground, it's either the coach, or the line, take your pick but that never happened in the 80's, and I keep hearing praise from the coaches about our O-line and how it is the strength of the team, so what is someone to think?

In an attempt to add a positive here; the D played well after giving up those big plays. they kept us in the game by stuffing the eagles 3 st. times in our territory at the end of the half. the iggles padded their stats by running the ball to end the game, at which point our D had been on the field too long. If you paid attention to the D playcalling you'd have noticed that GW did bring a lot of pressure & it worked often. Look at mcnabb's completion % - was below 50%. I thought the D was on the verge of turning itself around, but they needed some help & didn't get it.
I'm confident the D is improving (albeit, they got burned a couple times), but not the O.
