Twilbert07 11-13-2006, 09:36 AM Like it or not, Joe Gibbs' blind allegiance to Mark Brunell is the single-biggest reason he has a losing record during his second stint as head coach. After Gibbs leaves the game for good (a sad day all around), it will be written that tying his fate to Brunell doomed the great coach's return.
BrunellMVP? 11-13-2006, 09:37 AM I watch him on interviews all the time, this guy is a great speaker and believes in everything the redskins are doing. Hes layed it all out for this team, and does not stop believing. I almost hate seeing this criticism of a guy whos had a great career, and no ring. But at the same time we got to do whats best for this great franchise. I was and still am a Brunell supporter. Hate me all you want to, this guy is all class, a true team player, never complains and theres no controversy with him. He just tries to win week in and week out. Unfortunately he's not getting it done, and yep im in total agreement that it is time for a switch. I just pray that JC is the answer. Sorry if this thread is similar to the others. Lets go SKINS
No doubt he is a class guy, but i can think of 40 million reasons why he wouldn't complain...he's had backup talent for years, i just hope Gibbs isn't too stuborn to make the change...
skinsguy 11-13-2006, 09:46 AM Brunell was brought in because Gibbs wanted a good veteran QB who could win for us now. Gibbs knew that Mark wasn't the long term answer - hence the reason for drafting Jason Campbell.
But just remember, even if Campbell comes in against TB, this doesn't mean we have a QB in there who will win us games...but at least we need to find out now.
Yeah, I don't really care at all that Brunell is a nice guy. Patrick Ramsey was a nice guy and people on this board hated on him constantly. Brunell says "all the right things"...okay. Now all he has to do is win football games and he'll be the quarterback I want leading the team. I agree with Offiss, who cares what he says? Win f*ckin games!
I don't see what's so difficult for the homers and haters????? you add to the quality of the team or you don't. Ramsey never had it, Brunell has ceased to.

So our shotty pass protection, inconsistent running game, shotty secondary coverage, and poor tackling on defense has nothing to do with why we're losing?

Yes, all those things contribute to the problem. If, however, we had a playmaker at QB, we would have been better off.
If you're satisfied with Brunell's play, that's fine. I'm not.
25 out of 30 teams in the NFL don't have a playmaker. they manage to win
Pocket$ $traight 11-13-2006, 09:56 AM Brunell was great against Houston and his presence was great (IMO) against Dallas. He no longer has the ability to be consistent enough to be a starter in the NFL. I think that Doc Walker has identified the problem. Brunell is hurt. This is not the same guy from the beginning of '05 but it sure as hell looks like the guy from '04. That would explain why he can't make the throws.
Time to close the door and either cut ties or let him be another 7 million dollar backup.
I was embarrassed to wear the colors yesterday. That was a disgusting effort.

Umm... If there are 32 teams wouldn't 16 win and 16 lose every week???

Never said I was satisfied and I'm NOT satisfied with Mark Brunell, unless we were 6-3 right now. Having a playmaker at QB would certainly give us a chance to score some more points, but we're not exactly losing by a point or two this season.
