illdefined 11-12-2006, 08:53 PM I wonder if some of these guys on both sides of the ball are playing with such an apparent lack of enthusiasm based on their confidence in the QB? Does anyone here think MB is inspiring anyone on the team? Without a leader the team is going nowhere.
i've expressed that exact same feeling before, there's something about making a defensive stop when you have confidence in a QB to make that crucial two-minute drive...but still, i doubt even that will make Carter and Arch better players, or Rogers close from that cushion.
skinsguy 11-12-2006, 08:56 PM i agree with all your statements, again, i think everyone here knows how pervasive our problems are on this team. it seemed like this thread was a reaction to all the calls for Brunell's head, as if they felt that would fix all our problems and i was just saying nobody thought that.
I know it may seem that way, because there has been alot of calls for MB's head, but there has also been calls for our coaches' heads and for other players. I am just hoping that people will understand the depth of our problems. Me, being a Brunell supporter for the most part, understand that it's time to allow Jason Campbell to come in and play. I support that 100%! If we were 6-3, I'd say no. I just hope people will realize that if and when Jason comes in, he is going to have a challenge. I believe that even for Campbell to give our team a spark, he's going to have to have better pass protection than what MB was given today.
Citizens for 81 11-12-2006, 08:57 PM Inspiration doesn't always come from a QB. It's a huge myth in football that the QB is always the leader of the team.
In fact anyone who's been associated with organized football will tell you most players can't stand their QB.

To follow up, does anyone on the team think JC will instill any confidence? Will Rogers step it up a notch when his Auburn buddy is behind center? Who knows, maybe Brunell's presence is actually a buzzkill in the locker room.

I don't think anyone expects Campbell to turn our team into some offensive juggernaut. I think most expect him and our offense to struggle. BUT, I think most believe that our team needs a spark and Campbell will provide it. Moreover, I'd rather watch our team lose with Campbell to help our team's future than to watch our team lose with Brunell because Gibbs is enamored with Brunell's past.

hell, a spark is a spark.

I 'm not sure if this is true. But the bottom line is that great dynasty-type teams (49ers, Patriots, Cowboys) typically are remembered for the QBs. I kow there are exceptions (Gibbs Act I). Still, I'd like to see us have a franshise QB. Campbell might be that, but we'll never know if he's inactive every game. The Giants are on the right path with E. Manning.
RedskinRat 11-12-2006, 09:07 PM If you know your QB gives your Offense a shot at winning I don't think it matters if you like him.
Fuck, who'd have liked #7, he was a dick. Even said so himself, but you KNEW he could win. The D likes to see a QB who wins, it gives them more sideline time.

Also, you don't have to like or dislike the QB in order to have a sense of confidence in his ability to lead the offense.

I agree that if we're losing with Brunell (and we are) then we might as well be losing with JC and getting him experience. I don't always agree that the QB is necessarily the guy who comes off the bench to add a spark to the team. I think back in the season with Shotty as our coach and we were 0-5. It wasn't the QB who gave us the spark, but Arrington's INT that turned our season around (well at least got us on track to winning more games.)
It may not been Campbell who gives us the spark...could be TJ Duckett...might be a defensive player that we decide to plug in. Who knows...but I am curious to find out what Jason can do for us.
