Brunell has played very poorly in most games, therefore he played poorly last week. Genuis logic.

I don't consider my logic to be genius and neither is yours if you thought Brunell played that well last week. I watched the same game you did, and the only reason for any consideration for Brunell was because with a stroke of luck we won the game, not because he did anything to help it. There were more than one ocasion in that game, had it not been for the ineptness of the Cowboys he would have been directly responsible for us loosing the game.

Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought Brunell played well last week. The overwhelming majority of people here thought he played well last week. I stick by my assertion that he played well (not like a Pro Bowler, but well) last week.

Don't make the leap that just because I said he played well last week, I must believe he's a good QB or that he deserves praise this week. I've been ripping him all season long (save last week).

Shoulda woulda coulda...

I like most of your posts, but this idea that his passes were "almost" picked, and this and that...I don't agree with. There is plenty to complain about this week, so lets just stop being hypothetical about Dallas.

Anyone that's defended Brunell (including me) have done so with good reason. He hasn't been the terrible awful QB that we all saw today. He's played inconsistent though, and obviously, since the season is over everyone is calling for his head. I understand, and at heart I want to see Campbell come in, and always have.

This offense needs change, and we're all ready for it to happen. We very well may get lucky and finally see some Jason Campbell.

he played well for HIM was my comment last week. if one of those near ints was an INT vs. Dallas, i still wouldn't be mad because it meant Brunell threw DOWNfield. and using the entire field is what it takes to win.

today's pick was off a 5 yard dunk. Brunell reverting back to his ultra conservative usual, and if it wasn't a pick, he still wouldn't have won us the game. in the end, one good game doesn't make a season.

I understand where you're coming from but I'm not a flip/flop. For some time my mind has been made up about Brunell. He did throw a couple passes farther than six yds. last week, and he did throw a couple over the middle (which I didn't think he knew existed) and as a result of that some thought he played better, but in reality it was the same old Brunell, and I'm not going to flavor him because I really don't think he should be on the field PERIOD. So in essence, regardless of what he does, I'm constantly reminded to often of what he can't do. If you felt he played well, that's your perogative, I saw "through" the win and took into consideration all the ommitigating circumstances. I'm talking about a QB who has not lead his team to a touchdown against a division opponent on the road this year. I'm not going to flip/flop all over the place from one week to the next. I didn't like his play last week, the week before, and I certainly didn't like it today. There's nothing to make me think I'm going to like it next week either.

I never though I would feel this way about Brunell because if you go back and look at my posts in 2004-05 when some here was saying all kind on negative things about Brunell, I continued to support him. However, I have watched him play enough now that I'm convinced his serviceable years have departed.

Longtimefan,

You repeatedly say that you are not going to "flip/flop" on Brunell. You are going to say he's bad no matter how he plays. That's not consistency, that's just being stubborn.

I agree that Brunell GENERALLY sucks and deserves to be benched. But it's ridiculous to say that you can't praise Brunell without being a "flip-flopper." Bad players can have good days (e.g. Brunell's performance last week) and great players can have bad days. If you don't recognize that there's no point in discussing this any further.
