Pocket$ $traight 11-14-2006, 11:06 AM Comcast is reporting that Gibbs has decided to use T.J. Duckett on short-yardage situations. Has anyone heard anything about this? If it's true, what does this mean for Cartwright? We only carry 3 backs on gameday.
They had 4 backs in Philly. 5 if you count Sellers.
Now that Brunell is out of the starters role, is Gibbs actually waking up??
That Guy 11-14-2006, 09:45 PM I have this feeling we're going to waste two more late round picks are OL that we're just going to cut. Honestly, I feel like Bugel, if anyone, has had the game pass him by.
yeah. i mean, we wasted a pick last year on a guy NO ONE was going to draft, just because he played all five spots in college (big f'ing deal). bugel and breaux and saunders could all go away this year and i wouln't shed a tear.
of course, if you want an honest answer from the staff, bugel's the only guy you'll get it from (or maybe dale linsey :P)

I think this could benefit Duckett a lot because I have a feeling he will see more action other than just short yardage, between Sellers and Duckett they could really wear a defense line down with the run and open up the passing game finally??? what do you all think

sellers and duckett have been getting over 5 yards a carry it seems... if we start using them more, that'll go down, but if they can grind out some games and win them, i'm all for it.
Master4Caster 11-15-2006, 02:01 AM When Duckett was at Michigan State, he was big and fast. I'm glad to see him in games - finally - but short yardage would be a waste of talent if that's all he was used for.
Philadelphia - first carry from scrimmage -12 yards; second carry - 4 yards. Guess that fall-off worried the coaches. Maybe he's not showing something in practice.
:benched:
As for next year, it's clear that Betts fits the Al Saunders offense more than TJ. I think the Skins make their move there. Can't criticize the move.
The Giants have a huge hole at RB next year. "Hello, LaVar. Got the name of a good real estate agent?"
EternalEnigma21 11-15-2006, 02:31 AM I hope we keep the guy. If for nothing else than he's a madden hero. I'd like to see him play in some games, but Im not sure if he's an everydown back. I think if he was, hed have had that role in Atl.
The guy is a freaking beast in madden, though... I started using him and clinton like 50/50 and I'm 11-4 on the month. You get him isolated on the edge with a safety and truck them, and no one can catch you...
He did look fast in the philly game when I saw him carry the one time. I think he pulled out like 11 yards and looked like a fast moving train...
They should've just kept pounding him in there and making the eagles stop him.

After hearing what I'm hearing about Saunders, I'm going to reserve my judgement until I see what Campbell can do under this offense. If the playcalling STILL blows, then I'll agree...

What are you hearing about Al?
TheMalcolmConnection 11-15-2006, 10:02 AM Just heard that he adapted his playcalling to fit Brunell's abilities. His playbook is predicated on the deep ball.
I hope that is true as well. If that is true, Al must be dancin' in the street. At some point in time, I would love to open our Offensive series with a 50 yard bullet, like Mcnabb continually burns us with!
