Talk about someone getting overpaid. Jake Delhomme has done well but I'm not so sure he deserves the contract (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1823834) he got.

yea hes only played for one year essentially. But its his last year of the contract and they dont want to lose him if he does well again I guess.

Yeah, he's making more than his favorite target: Steve Smith. Something kinda messed up there.

I don't think he's all that good of a QB anway. He was sooooo lucky to even get into the playoffs last year. There were several games last year when he 'brought them back'. He basically just threw the ball up and let his receivers go after it. Several of those balls should have been INTs.

He's overhyped, I think. But, then again, he may prove me wrong this year.

I kept saying how "lucky" Del Homme was last year. However, he is the most consistantly lucky person I know. He's not a great QB, but he's definitely a lot better than I ever suspected. That contract is way too high though. I think it will be interesting to see how the Panthers do this year.

and because of delhomme, they are the #4 ranked QB team...total bs right there.

Don't you have to practice hard and study to be that lucky?

I can't believe that anyone could get their team to a SB on luck alone.

Their offense didnt get them there, it was mostly their defense, IMO they had a decent offense, nothing overpowering. they had one game breaking reciever, and Davis who wont break many, but it was the suffocating defense that got them there. Delhomme proved to be that he is a winner though, very similar to Brady, with a little less skills.

Delhomme isn't a great QB, but the guy just makes plays when he has to. He's a winner in my book.

Delhomme just has that killer instinct that you can't develop. He knows what he needs to do on the field and his teammates respond to him in the huddle and that is one of the most important things in football. Maybe he doesn't have all of the tangibles of the star NFL quarterback, but IMO he makes up for that with the intangibles. Bottom line: money is used to buy results and I think that this contract will do just that
