Yeah Santa Clara is only 30 minutes away from SF. Rexi 11-09-2006, 05:27 PM The city couldn't agree on the plans with the owner, Dr. York who wants the stadium to be one of the league's largest and best, the new generation of stadiums that the Cardinals and soon the Cowboys will have. The blame falls on the city officials and the geographic difficulties of building a stadium in SF. So York went to the Mayor of Santa Clara who's mouth is watering to get a storied franchise like the 49ers to play in his city. Negotiations will move a lot faster now and I think the target date for a new stadium to be completed is by the start of the 2012 season. Also it should be more convenient for the organization because Santa Clara is where the franchise headquarters are located.
