Two historic franchises meet today in the shadows of the nation's capital, and Capitol.
Both are attempting to right their listing ships. One team will leave today feeling as if positive movement has been made in that direction.
The coach of the other will be pushed to his limits to keep his players from manning the lifeboats.
When the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys play, the game is not routine. Today's contest between the NFC East rivals is even more exceptional.
"It's Dallas," said Redskins tackle Jon Jansen. "It's a division game. It's a conference game. We're trying to get into a playoff mode.
"We've got to win out to have a chance at the playoffs."
The Redskins (2-5) have little margin for error. The Cowboys (4-3) feel better about themselves after winning at Carolina last week. The Redskins had a bye last week.
