Daseal 11-04-2006, 08:00 PM I've been meaning to post this since I saw it Friday afternoon. This thread, though the opening was limited, is worth trying to go see wherever it's showing. The whole movie the theatre was cracking up. Both myself and my friend ended up laughing so hard we cried.
That said, it's not a movie for everyone. There's a lot of racial humor (especially vs Jews), some of the scenes are just hard to watch (you're embarrassed for him), and some of it is downright gross (Naked wrestling....).
That said, it makes fun of America quite a bit in a somewhat subtley way (interviewing citizens...) Most of it isn't staged, they signed waivers, but Im sure parts of it are.
dmek25 11-04-2006, 08:23 PM i cant wait to see it. the trailer looked funny as hell
mooby 11-05-2006, 01:25 AM I saw it last night. Throughout the whole movie I thought the jokes were funny, but it didn't connect throughout the plot like it should've. That said, I could've definitely have done without seeing the naked wrestling scenes and the part where he shows pictures of the kid's dick.

That is the thing, it is hard to make a story that allows for borat style interviews. That is why they blended in a story very well, in this case.
You should look how they integrated skits, with a overall story. Very hard to do.
Hilarious. But I still love The Ali G Show, over Borat! and Ali G: the movie.

You know he's not really making fun of jews right?
Daseal 11-05-2006, 10:29 AM Well, he is "making fun of them." But no different from any other comedian that makes fun of their own race/religion. I'm well away that Sasha Cohan (sp?) is Jewish, but many people are easily offended, so I figured I'd put that disclaimer out there.

that's just it, he's not making fun of his own race, he is exposing the anti-semitism of others. It"s funny, but not completely. When he sings throw the jew down the well, the joke is on the people joining him in singing, not his own race. Anyway, I think that's a pretty significant difference.
Daseal 11-05-2006, 06:44 PM That's true. I can hardly wait till Borat interviews that douchebag Mel Gibson!@
skin4Life28 11-05-2006, 06:55 PM well basically my 2 cents are this. this movie was damn funny. there were definetly parts where i couldnt breathe i was laughing so hard. some parts were definetyl a little over the edge but that was to be expected. it was well worth the hellish movie ticket price though.
djnemo65 11-05-2006, 08:10 PM God, I can't wait to see this. I'm hearing really good things from many different places.
