If Moss is out - can ARE and Lloyd step up?

The skins made depth a wide receiver a priority and if Moss is out we are about to see if they got it right. So far ARE and Lloyd have contributed almost nothing. However, in my opinion this is in large part a function of Brunell not even looking their way. With Moss out he'll have no choice. We know that if he throws it Lloyd's way he can out jump the cowgirls secondary so I'd love to see Brunell tossing it deep a few times on 1st and 2nd down to stretch the field and open it up for Portis.

Of course, we all hope Moss plays but perhaps if he doesn't it will at least force Brunell to look elsewhere - looking on the bright side, this could be the time for Lloyd and ARE to break out.

Depend's someone could get killed the way Brunell throws deep with R Williams lurking about.

are and b lloyd need to step up but if the qb has "Moss Blinders" on he wont throw it to them. I hope the blinders come off this sunday.

That's the point though - if Moss isn't playing the 'blinders' will have to come off. Unless Brunell chooses to through it over the sidelines - something he has been doing a lot of. Actually, thinking about it if he sees Moss stalking the sidelines in a shirt and tie he might throw it there even more! Sh!t.

That should read throw. It's early and I need a coffee.

maybe some positives if moss doesnt play. now brunell is forced to look elsewhere. we already know that both of those guys are legit nfl recievers

I said it before, I dont think that Brunell is comfortable throwing to ARE and Lloyd. It seemed to me in the Colts game Saunders was forcing Brunell to throw to Lloyd the first couple of plays.

I do think however if Jason Campbell would not have this problem. He would, IMO, throw to the open receiver no matter who it was. I think that we have a very good stable of WR's with Moss, Lloyd, ARE, Patten. We need to have a QB that will throw to the open receiver, no matter who it is. We should also run more 4WR sets, even run Portis out the 4wide sets, spread the D. That would open up PlayAction like crazy for our O. Just my thoughts...

Last season, I thought that Patten and Jacobs must not be getting open, but I'm now convinced that Brunell has blinders for Moss, and sometimes Cooley. His final throw to Moss in QUADRUPLE coverage in the loss to the Titans was ridiculous. I'd love to see that play from the end-zone camera - ARE and/or Lloyd were probably wide open.

It's like a vicious circle as Brunell feels comfortable throwing to Moss because of what Moss can do so he keeps throwing to him. Uncertain of what the others can do, he avoids them - better the devil you know and all that. If the other guys are getting open and Brunell is still throwing to a double covered Moss then that would be unbelievable from a veteran quarterback. If Moss is out on Sunday then we will see for sure what is going on.

The question I have is will Brunell pick out another receiver to lock onto if Moss doesn't play? Another words is his problem too much love for Moss, or is it that he doesn't have the ability to scan the whole field anymore?
