GhettoDogAllStars 10-30-2006, 11:31 AM We definitly need to see Campbell play this year, I dont know why people are already pushing him aside, we havent seem him play yet.
We need TWO shutdown corners.
And we need TWO defensive ends and atleast 1 more DT to go with Griffin.
Someone said we need linebackers...I think we are fine there
Oh yeah, two would be nice ... three would be better ;)
If we got one shutdown corner and one legit pass rushing DE, the rest of our defense would improve greatly -- and we could use the money/picks on other stuff.

I was the one saying we needed LBs. We're fine with Marcus, that's for sure.
Holdman can't cover, and Marshall has been very lackluster this season. Hopefully Rocky develops into something, but if he doesn't, we're really hurtin at that position.
TheMalcolmConnection 10-30-2006, 12:12 PM I think we draft a MLB too this year if we have any picks left.

I agree we could use some LB help. Hopefully Marshall can rebound and McIntosh will be the real deal. Otherwise we could be looking at an overhaul at LB.
jsarno 10-30-2006, 12:46 PM The lions, 49ers, Bucs, Raiders, Texans, Titans, Steelers, Dolfins, Browns, Bills are all 2-5 or worse so we would probably be looking at a top 10 draft pick at the moment.
The Titans beat us, and we beat the Texans...only the Lions, Miami, and Cards have a worse record. (I was incorrect in saying only the cards were worse, they just happen to have the worst record in football right now). So we can easily be looking at a top 5 pick. Especially since we have a tough schedule and we are sucking. If we can't wake up from this deep sleep vs the cowpatties, a top 5 pick is in our future.
Longtimefan 10-30-2006, 12:47 PM Here's a question for you guys. I'd say the odds are 90-10 that Brunell won't be back next year and I'll say 80-20 that Collins won't be back. So anyhow, assuming Campbell is our guy next year who is the backup?
Do we draft someone we can groom? Or, considering Campbell will essentially be a rookie, do we go after a veteran QB with playing experience. Some possibilities Jake Plummer (I don't like him personally), Chris Simms (if he's not back in Tampa, I think he'll look to start somewhere else), and here's an intriguing one Byron Leftwich (would bring him back home)
Anyway, I don't like thinking about next year yet but I am curious who might be our backup QB. What do you all think?
I, like you do not like the idea of having to think about next year right now, however based on the way things have gone for us thus far, it can't be dismissed as premature judgement.
Our foremost consideration for next year has to be sorting out the QB situation which (in my opinion) is the most important position on the team. We won't have any direction as a team until we decide on who that person is going to be. A great deal of uncertainty complicates the issue because of Gibbs's profound love and commitment to Brunell. If I read you correctly, it is your belief Brunell will not be back next year, assuming you're correct in your thinking (and many of us agree) then we should begin planning now for the changing of the guard. Let's not wait until the beginning of next season to find out whether or not Jason Campbell will be the undisputed leader of this team, the time to find that out is now (through these next eight or nine games) and in so doing, we will erase any "wonder" as to whether or not he has what's neccessary to get the job done. Once the change has been implemented and we can make a true judgement of him based on his play, then we can make other decisions as far as who/what other QB's make up the equation and in what order.
This area of our football team will remain highly speculative until we get a guage on how Gibbs is leaning on the lingering Brunell issue. It may become clearer as the remainder of the season progresses. Other areas of the team will take time to sort out because there are so many issues involved, money, free agency and draft picks head the list. It's going to really be interesting to see how this off-season plays out, mainly because we have so many different issues in so many areas of the team that warrant consideration.

And if we get a top five pick, who the heck do we take?! :(
jsarno 10-30-2006, 12:50 PM McIntosh will be the real deal.
Why do you think so? He has done nothing to show me at this point, and with the sub par LB play, wouldn't he take over more if he was the real deal? I'm just curious as to what you think here, cause I thought he would be a great addition, now I am not so sure.

I didn't say he's the real deal, I said hopefully he will be.

I think we are assuming Quinn will be #1, but I just don't see it. I guess we'll know more in the offseason. There are always a plethera of talent in the top 10.
